#52513, "HOW MUCH BOOST CAN I RUN?"

i will be getting the stage 2 star kit and i was wondering how much boost i would be able to run safely under 2 conditions:

1. the kit as it comes without any fuel mods

and 2. with 310cc injectors and a SFMU

let me know! thanks!

if you want your motor to NOT blow up with a STAR kit, run 5psi on the stock injectors(they are pretty close to maxed out then anyways) and run 7psi with the 30lb. and SFMU. anymore than that(without race gas, or just VERY occassionally) and you will be another member of the cracked ring-land club. goodluck with your setup.

I was running 15psi nicely with the 30ibs and cartech fpr. But I had rebuilt engine.

i know a guy who was boosting at 12 psi to and from work with the cartech setup and injectors and his engine was holding. heh this sucks, different people are giving me different answers. maybe ill just pick the middle road: 6-7 psi on stock fuel system and 8-9.5 on altered fuel system w/ sfmu and 30lb'ers!

how does that sound?!

yeah that was me, the only difference will really be how heavy is your foot? The reason I could do that and get away with it is I have had soooo many muscle cars and stuff, I am over the floor it every light thing. The first car I have ten years ago was a 403 big blocked cutless and I went from there. My last car was a daily driven 11 second fox body stang. I don't beat on my stuff and a lot fo the time, my talon will never see more than 2 lbs of boost on any given day. I liked having it at 12 for a little while just to see what it would be like though. It just didn't get floored everytime I pulled out from somewhere so it was no problem for me. A lot of guys that turbo their cars are younger and it is their first fast one so it is HARD (make it more like impossibly) not to punch it constantly so that is why things come apart. If you are going to have a heavy foot, I would run 7 or 8 lbs, trust me, its still a lot of fun.

ah ok...i got it. i usually dont floor it 100% of the time. mostly half throttle when i am going nuts in traffic, nothing serious, except when i do traffic light race, which is extremely seldom. so i will keep your experience in mind. thanks alot.

oh and btw i hope you didnt mind that i was using you on this post emoji

from what i hear 5 psi is a min. you can probably go up to 8psi on stock injectors but that is a MAX. you may want to lower the boost for basic daily driving.

Once again, people fail to see that there are variences in cars as well as the parts that comes with it.

Just because one person runs 8psi on stock injectors and has a perfect 0.92 volts, does not mean the next person with the same setting will. You have to take into account: age of injector, quality of gas, the amount of gum/varnish in the inj......the list goes on and on.

Remember, they are merely guidlines to get you in the ballpark.....ROUGHLY.

If you are new to the turbo world, research more into it before jumping into installing a STAR stage two kit without the proper fuel mods.

I personally will not boost more than 5-6psi with stockers. hell even after my engine rebuild, I'm still at 5psi with my RC 270cc. Just a precaution. emoji

Your on a different playing field man, we have a 16g, star turbos flow more. We can run more than 8 daily. I am running close to ten on stockers. The t3/t4 star has needs more fuel so don't worry about your hahn. You will be fine at 8 psi

Yeah and plus I have a FMIC, that should let me boost a little more.

The FMIC has nothing to do with letting you boost more if you are maxing out your fuel system. if 5psi with no IC is hard on the injectors, you add a FMIC, and its still hard on the injectors...get where im goin? all the FMIC is gonna do is make the intake temps low, lessen the risk of detonation, and IF the fuel system is up to it, allow you to run more boost. star or HRC, if you dont have the $$ for rebuild, i wouldnt go over 5-6psi.
