Depends on what board you want advice from.

If you want to ask questions here, I recommend keeping the 420A seeing as that is what we do. If you want a 4G63 choose dsmtooners. They will gladly tell you what to do.

>now what would be a better descison, engine swaping with a 4g63 or adding turbo to my 420a

OMG! We need to see if Dino would put a banner message at the top of the Forum page that says "YOU CANNOT SWAP THE 4G63 ENGINE INTO THE N/T!!" That would probably lower the monthly post count by 100+ posts! emoji

Technically it can be done.. just not cost/time effective. Before I was on this board..(been surfing here since '99)I purchased my '98 GS from a salvage auction in late '97 with less than 1500 miles.. (perfect donor car) when rebuilding it, I thought that I may have a choice to go either route. What I did was buy a core support and "belly band" for the factory turbo car so that I could line things up properly at an attempt. So I pulled the 420a, then I welded in the core support and bolted up the band.. Then the car sat while gathering parts. After about a month of figuring out what truley would have been needed, it only took 10 seconds to realize the 420a with HRC stage II would get me the same level of performance as a GST for much less time and effort....

I agree totally with the message above, someone needs put up something to end this type of thread once and for all..

420a and ej20... both with boost

one day everyone will realised that the swap could be done for cheap in less than 1/2 hour

you just drive around town until you see a GST on a used car dealership
you give your RS or GS as a trade-in plus $1500 cash
and you drive home with the beaten up 4g63 turbo
