#52161, "she's alive!!"

Well finally after 3 12 hr days, yesterday at 10pm she turned over and breathed. New built block (eagle rods, etc, etc. the whole works) new race clutch (stage 3.5) and lsd all in and going.
I would like to thank Brian, Chris it was sure nice meeting you guys, and getting your car to crank over on saturday night Brian (hope you got that oil leak taken care of).
also Mikey, thanks for all the help man, sunday was a long day but without your knowledge the dis-assembly of the engine would have tanken longer, not to mention the LSD.
and A HUGE thanks to Eddie!!!

things that went wrong...
well had to buy a new turbo cus while I was stuck in chicago my old one leaked and there was shaft play, no time for a rebuild so now I'm $800 poorer.
also at 9:30 last night after all got put in.. the clutch would not engage when the car was on.. man did I freak out, but we bled the clutch and it works like a charm now!

now for the tedius 1500 mile break in...

all in all a great experience. Thanks guys!! now to find some acid to get all this grease and what not from my hands emoji

No worries buddy, I was happy to help. Get crackin' on that break in and come to the Shoot Out emoji

Yeah the LSD install was... um... interesting, c-clamps and all... I'm just glad you didn't mind, or hid the terror well, of me drilling at your differential. I do want your impressions of that unit once it's broken in.

Destruction's easy, just sorry I couldn't be around for the install and firing up.

haha yeah the drilling.. umm interesting way of going at a differential, well when all else fails.. right?
yeah we missed you also for the install.. we would find a bracket and look at eachother and were like "umm where does this go?" "I did not take it out, did you?" "bet mike would know.." hahahaha it was funny.. but like a jigzaw puzzle it all fit in eventually, with the usual "weight reduction" pieces that um were um "not needed" hehehehe

yeah i will let you know on the lsd once it breaks in.. ohh not going to the shoot out anymore.. driving home was more than enough of a pain in the butt (speed up slow down) to vary the rpms.. no way i'm doing that all the way to ohio, besides once there it would not be broken in anyways. you will see me there next year though!

Hey, we need to chill more often dude! It was fun. You should party with us sometime hahah

Sorry agian I couldn't help out. I worked the WHOLE weekend to get my car running. Tonight I still need to shorten the oil return line and trim the WG bracket a little more.

I took care of the oil leak before work today but I don't want to try starting the car untill tomorrow to give the RTV a chance to cure. I'm praying it will work. Those stupid gaskets kept popping out on me (REALLY PISSIN ME OFF!)

At least all I really need is ATF and to stop by the shop to get the tranny programed for the new clutches and shift kit. I'll be running Monday

I did use all new gaskets when we put it back together. I tried putting RTV on all the gaskets last week and it's still leaking.

I think this time I'm not going to hold back on how much RTV/Gasket maker I use. I'm tired of this crap and I'm goin all out with that stuff everwere I can.

Oh, Did you get your camera? Man, you just keep leaving stuff everywere don't ya? emoji

Way to go mang! emoji

You know, it's funny. I was reading this thread and I'm thinking "Thanks Brian and Chris?" Who is this guy? I don't know him and Chris was over here helping me with MY rebuild! (as was John, Phil and Paul in no particular order) Oh yeah, I'm Brian too and I had a nasty oil leak from not putting that hefty o-ring in the bedplate, but yes, we pulled it all out and tore it all down and redid the entire rebuild and now she doesn't leak anymore. Thanks for asking do0d! emoji

Glad to hear you're back on the road again. Me too. Break in is a cruel time. It's like getting to hold your Christmas presents but not open them for a month! :o
