okay i just got back from the race track and the best i could pull was 14.9 at 93 mph. i was spinning tires really bad though though so i figure i could pull maybe .1-.2 better with some decent traction. i have a star stage 2 set at 5-6 psi. it was hot as hell that day but i let it sit for a while between races. is that a good time for my setup. everything else is stock so far. i have the 550 rc inj, saf2 and boost controler but they wont be in till next week when i have time.

IF ITS THAT HOT OUT ..... TRY OPENING THE HOOD UP AND RUNNING THE A/C THIS WILL KICK ON BOTH FANS ... THEY BLOW RIGHT ON THE TURBO, THE TRANNY AND THE BLOCK ITSELF ... THIS WILL PREVENT HEAT FROM SOAKING UP ... RIGHT BEFORE U RUN ... CLOSE UP THE HOOD AND TURN A/C OFF .. AND GO AHEAD ... U SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN .3 BETTER WITH PROPER LAUNCH

did i read that you have 550cc injectors?!?! and you are running them with just a SAFC..no mention of a SFMU correct? man, i would bet you are either running insanely rich, or you have some seriously jacked up timing issues from the SAFC leaning out so much to run those injectors...or most likely a combo of both. that size injectors is REAL overkill for anything under 18psi.

I agree with Nitrous RS1997. If you are just running ~6 psi, the 550's are overkill. I bet you are pegged rich in WOT, even with some serious fuel trimming with an AFC (correct me if my assumption is incorrect.) Do you have an EGT gauge? If so, what's your max EGT in WOT? Nevertheless, 14.9 is still pretty good for 6 psi. It's about equivalent to a stock 4G63 emoji

Sell your SAFC. Buy a Vortech SFMU to lower your fuel pressure at idle, sell the 550's and buy/trade someone for some 440cc injectors. that will be plenty to run up to 20psi with proper ignition tuning or race gas.

yeah get some 440's that should be good enough for 18psi.get the SFMU to tune a bit, and I would say KEEP the SAFC and use it for fine tuninng. do not use it to lean your injectors a lot.. let the ECU and SFMU do that...but the SAFC can be good for fine tuning.
that is the set up I currently have.

what is the difference between the Vortech SFMU and the safc? and if the Vortech SFMU is better for a star stg 2 w/o internals rather than having a safc, where could i get the Vortech SFMU?

the vortex SFMU regulates fuel pressure by using a combination of disks and springs. It will increase fuel pressure 4 different rates (thus you get 4 different size disks).
The SAFC is a small "computer" that changes the readings your ecu gets from the MAP sensor, thus leaning or richening your fuel mixture.

is it considered bad to have upgraded injectors to say 310cc and not have some sort of safc or smfu?

lol i agree about the caps. i think i am going to go with teh vortech sfmu though. ive put my 550 on the f/s or trade forum so hopefully someone wants them. for teh guy that asked if the 550's were 4g63 or 420 i was told by the guy at rc they were for teh 420 a . i asked if he was sure and he said yes they were for the non turbo eclipse. as soon as someone takes them ill get the sfmu and teh 440's any suggestions on the 440 i should get, ie what manufacturer

one more question --- is the boost dependent one that comes with the star kit completely useless or what. ive heard everyone only talk about the sfmu. is it that good

the SFMU and the regular FMU that comes with the STAR kit perform the exact same function when in boost...they raise fuel pressure according to boost pressure, with changing out disk/ring combos to get different fuel psi-to-boost psi rise rates. Where the SFMU is much different, is that it takes the place of your stock fuel pressure regulator, which allows you to run much larger injectors, cause you can lower the idle fuel pressure to the level you need to. the regular FMU works in conjuction with the stock FPR, and does NOT allow you to adjust idle fuel pressure...so you are stuck with 50psi of idle pressure, which is WAY too much for anything larger than stock injectors. you "can" run 30lb injectors with just the regular FMU and no SAFC or SFMU. i believe DeanoD did this for quite a while...but in my experience, trying it on my friends car, it ran horribly rich in boost, idled very rich, and generally ran very rough. but it did run.
