Does anyone have a good recomendation for a cheap IAT gauge? looking for a plain mech. guage to measure before and after temps to test intercooler eff.

Not anything I plan to mount or use perminatly.

hmm I'd think you want a EGT gauge instead, you could get a pyrometer that measure in say increments of 50 F

oops I meant to say a pyromeater that reads in increments of 50 or 25 degree F if you wanted to use it as a IAT. Maybe you can tap into the sensor itself somehow.

I am not after electronic guages. Just a cheap way to get a temp before the I/C and after the I/C at the same time. It doesn't even have leave the engine compartment.

You'll have to be boosting and driving fast in order to really measure intercooler efficiency. Because of that, I would suggest that you get electronic gauges that can be viewed from the passenger seat (as opposed to the engine compartment). To really calculate efficiency, you'll probably need RPM, boost, speed, pressurized inlet temp, pressurized outlet temp, and ambient temp. A purpose built datalogger would help alot.
