#5185, "it turns out 18 psi is too high."

LAST EDITED ON 17-May-01 AT 03:51 PM (PST)

Well after several days of running 18 psi and beating EVERYTHING I could find worth racing, I decided to turn the boost down. It is too high for me to be driving around with the temptation of mashing it all the time. The cost of tires, tickets and possible (one pending)as well as possible wrecks, I have no choice but to turn the boost down. I re adjusted my AFC and I will say the car is running alot more smoother now. Driving around daily on high boost like that makes the car run kinda ruff under no boost (at least in my experience) I do have another dyno session scheduled for the 26th and will see what I come home with. emoji
I just hope none of the vetts stangs hondas and all other cars out there I destroyed decide to try me now. emoji
I will just have to play it off like they are not worth my time.
I'll keep you guy's posted.
SEE YA!!!!!!!!!MWC

What kind of numbers on the dyno are you expecting to pull?

Poor guy has to turn his boost down. You gonna cut it down a dramatic 5psi or so? How slow you'll be at 13psi or even (a moment of silence) 10psi. You'll be forced to only kick the asses of only mild 5.0s and supercharged civic si's. What a nighmare your in :'( Turn it down 4 more psi, loose the intercooler and put in a clutch that slips at full throttle slips and even I may be able to take you. I tried to help you and offered to take your Profec and give you the Joe P so you wont have in car access to boost adjustments but you refuse help (your not ready for rehabilitation yet. still in denial stage). Send me the Profec and I'll know your ready for recovery. You cant do it alone so send it fast before you do something you regret. Hurry! Hurry! Send all your greddy parts for that matter! emoji

I didnt realy think there was going to be much of a response to this post. emoji
I will try to answer the questions as I remember them.
Stan is right, I have a MSD-dis2 along with Wiesco pistons 8:5.1 total seal rings and custom rods. I also have RC 440's injectors and a S-AFC. As far as results I am expecting, it all depends if I can dial in the MSD to tweek my timing out so that I can run higher boost without problems. I would like to see the magic 300+, but will tune the car for the highest SAFEST level of HP we can givin my mods. Yes 18 psi is CRAZY, but it comes at a price. Every time I hit the boost I cant help but to worry about blowing up the motor again. After racing someone not only is the adrinalin flowing but when I get out of the car its like my legs are weak. emoji that is how freaky it feels. To race a Vett at a roll and pull on him 8+ cars before letting off is a trip. emoji
I am pleased the motor can and will handle that much power, but I am going to address someother areas first to insure that my system is "Tits" before I continue to boost at those levels. Just cause you have a built bottom end does not meen you can not F&*$^$ somthing up. No I dont have any Dyno results on the 18 psi, but hope to have some in the next week or two, and beleive me I will post as soon as I get um in, as well as some passes on the track.
SEE YA!!!!!!!!!!MWC
P.S Stan you know me!
Keep an eye out cause I am always changing directions and may look to let go of some stuff, to make room for new items and ideas,(swapping out the Greddy I/C for a liquid to air Speraco) so you never know. emoji
