For all of you guys/gals out there with a pocketlogger, or any other type data collector for that mater, I would like to know what kind of readings you are getting from your IAT sensor under boost. It would also be very helpful if I knew how much boost you are running. Also I would be very interested in readings from stage one guys/gals especialy. The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking into Flexfab Hosing Products SilfabbII http://hosenow.com/silfabchrt.htm for intercooler tubing and I want to make sure it with hold up to the temps that turbos produce. It looks like it would be very easy to work with, and it's reinforced so it shouldn't expand causing any kind of eratic boost problems. What do you all think? Do you think it's worth a try or should I just stick hard lines? TIA!

With or without a front mount? With a decent sized front mount intake temps prolly won't go above 100 degrees unless you're really heat soaked. If you're looking at replacing all the silicone connectors though, you have to take into account the temps of the hard parts especially the turbo and lower ic piping. I would guess running the turbo real hard would generate heat of 6-800 degrees right at the turbo. You should go with something that's already rated for the heat of a turbo application.

Well, I have a smic with a water cooled T3 so do you think that the temps will still get that high? I guess that's what I really need to know is how hot the actual compresor side will get. That Silfab is rated for tempatures 600+. But if the temps get up to 800 I think I better at least find somthing else for the turbo to the IC. Thanx for the response!
But I would still like to here some others opinions. Come on people...has anybody tried something like this? If it can take the heat I think it would work pretty good.

one thing you have to realize about asking about intake temps is that there are soooo many variables that can affect the IAT. 1. filter placement 2. turbo effeciency 3. intecooler type 3. tubing material and color 4. tolerance on the IAT sensor itself. etc etc
See the IAT sensor reads what the temp is in the manifold, but i would think that the IC piping will see alot more heat than just the temperature of the internal air. I see no more than 123 degrees on my IAT sensor from my pocketlogger and that is when the car has just been idling for like 4 or 5 minutes. The actual piping however can be more than 20 degrees hotter due to the exposure from surrounding heat.
so i'd say if the stuff you are looking at can withstand a sustained exposure to like 200-220F then you are okay.
