#51763, "Finally at 14psi runs good"

Well I finally got my EIC working it happened to be a corrupt set file. The car is pretty quick but I still need to tune a little better. (Running Rich). However, I am not that impressed. I deffinatly thought it was going to be faster. Maybe once I get it tuned perfect it will pick up a few hp's. If not I think it will be time to look into some head work. I know some one on here is running 18psi. Will I need timing retard stuuf to do that? Or maybe I could even get like a 75 shot of nos or something.
Let me know your thoughts.
Late

14psi and still not impressed? Damn. What were you running before? Im running 7psi now (not really impressed), and if its not that much of a difference, Im gonna be pissed once I rebuild. Damn it. Please tell me something was wrong, and 14psi really is awesome!

No you don't need to retard timing at 18psi. You only need to retard timing if you are running more boost than pump gas can handle. Then you may get away with a little more boost by retarding it a little.

BTW did you rebuild with low comp? Mine felt faster at 11psi on the stock motor than 13-14psi on my built motor.

of course if you run say 12psi on stock compression then rebuild and do 13-14psi give or take is going to be the same amount of power as 12psi on stock compression or a little slower etc. i will run atleast 14psi.

If you're tuned badly, that can make a HUGE difference. What's your injector scaler at and what size injectors do you have?

I'm just playing around at 12-13 psi lately, and omg, it's night and day with what 7 psi used to be. I have new tires I need to mount before the Shootout, but I've been wasting away on the ones I currently am on, and I spin loose at about 10-11 psi every time, even in 3rd or 4th gear.

My injector scaler is at 6.9 something and I am running 30lb injectors. Like I said I am still rich so I need to do some more tuning. dont get me wrong its quick I was just expecting more. I am running the je 8.5:1 pistons. I will mess arround with the tuning some more tommrow and see what I can do. What can I do to build the boose faster It seems like it takes a while before it hits 14psi arround 5k. I was concidering a better bov.

what turbo are you running? i have the T3/T4, and i hit 18psi WAAAY before 5k. you may have yourself a boost leak, and that could contribute to the car not being as fast as it should.

Well, for your point of reference, I'm boosting about 12-13, and have add'l 440cc injectors. My injector scaler is at 6.5 or so.

yea, I am using 30# injectors in the secondary and stock injectors in the primary rail and my scaler is 7.1 and I add fuel in the matrix, and I need more fuel. I was running 17 psi this way and stuck it on the dyno. My highest HP was my first run when my scaler was like 8.0, but my a/f was around 9:1 on the wideband so it was definately rich. Later on, I got it tuned to about 11.5:1 by droping the scaler to around 7.1:1 and I lost HP... go figure.
