#51077, "2 taps on O2 signal bad idea?"

Hey guys. I got the shitty autometer blinky light o2 readout a long time ago. Then a little while after that i got the apexi TT and it has a digital readout. So i wanted the digital readout, and the autometer one too. They are hooked up to the o2 signal and grounded to the same point. The digital readout seems to be right on with the AM one most of the time. BUT when i turn on my headlights (or just the running lights) the apexi one will drop down to about 50% of the AM gauge. its weird emoji Is it a bad idea to have both of them on the 1 o2 sensor signal? I have been thinking about hooking up the autometer one to the rear o2 sensor. When i drive at night with the headlights on my apexi tt wants to idle my car for 5 minues cause it thinks i was running super lean! Just wondering if anyone has seen this type of thing before.

i have heard on one of the post in 2gnt that if you have more than 1 taps on the 02, it becomes more inaccurate. some confirm this information but i've read it on here before cause i was wondering the same thing a long time ago.

The headlight thing sounds to me like a problem wioth ampherage. What did you tap for power to the two gauges, if the referance/power supply to gauge sees a big drop when you kick on the headlights, the readings could be off. The autometer probably doesn't require a big amount of current.

i just grounded the TT to a bolt on the frame and it seems to be happy now. I dunno where it was grounded before, i just cut the wire and moved it. im retarted... emoji

mine seem good too. i have the blinky autometer gauge and corbin's digital one. when i was on the dyno, my oxygen sensor voltage numbers pretty much corresponded with real A:F ratios. i was getting about 12:1 when my oxygen sensor said .94 or so.

in theory, a perfect volt meter will have infinite input impedance. in other words, it will draw 0 current to measure the voltage. of course this is impossible...

...a good way to see if one is trying to draw lots of current from the oxygen sensor wire is to put a ammeter right at the oxygen sensor. another method would be to measure the resistance of the autometer gauge and corbin's gauge. i'd guess you'd want 500,000+ ohms or something. that's just a number i'm pulling out of my ass though.

Guys bosch makes a single wire o2 sensor that you can buy at autozone for 20 bucks. Get the sensor and get a muffler shop to weld in a bung (20$) and never worry about jumping stuff again. I've just seen too many meters returned from people splicing stuff in to the stock sensor. Everytime I sell an o2 meter I sell them the whole deal meter, sensor, bung and relay. It wouldnt hurt to have both your tt and o2 off of seperate sources.

stage BIG custom mj racing turbo set up, built block.worked head, all tial components, hks evcez, spearco 992,oh yeah and a huge bottle in the trunk last run all turbo 13.8@108 no nos dyno'd at AEBS in Cali with 300+ hp to the wheels
