#51030, "detonation questions, about being at WOT vs Partial. Please read."

I am having of a problem with detonation above at 10 psi or higher. I have the datalogger hooked up and as soon as I enter boost the timing is dropping to like 15-17 then by like 5 psi it drops to 10-12 and stays there. My O2 readings are .94-.96 and my egts never go over 1400. So I am running with everything in spec. Acctualy a little rich cause I am getting codes for being to rich. The problem is even with everything just right I can run 10-12 psi at like 80% throttle but as soon as I mash it to Wot I get detonation. I let off a little and it goes away. What do you think would cause this. I know some of you guys are dealing with the closed loop, open loop stuff, but My car seems to run pretty smooth as far as the transition from vaccum to boost goes. So I am stumped. Also To let you know if it matters I am running 370cc injectors and a sfmu with the 2.72 disk @80 psi For 10 psi of boost. A little rich.

your not using a SAFC right? at 17psi, with just a SFMU comtrolling my injectors, i only see 17-19 degrees of advance at WOT. but i get NO detonation whatsoever. maybe you are one of the unlucky few that need timing retard no matter what.

well shouldnt I need to retard the timing at 10 degrees. I was using 92 octane cheveron gas. I am going to try some octane booster.

Do you mean retard the timing at anything above 10 degrees advance? if so, the NOOOO. retarding timing too much can cause as many problems as advancing it too much. at WOT, you should see around 19-23 degrees of advance, and best case scenario, get no detonation.

What do you use to avoid fuel cut? ML or black box?

as of right now I am using the Missing link. And the noise is coming through the ignition box in my glove compartment. Also the pistons are 8.6:1 JE with crower rods.

Look for loose wires or a loose knock sensor.
