Good morning everyone.

I currently have a 99RS eclipse. it has the 420A with 75K on it. 5 Speed. I have had 0 issues with this car and liek that about it. Anyway.

I want to park it at the end of summer and start preping for a Stage 3 turbo set up. I want to run about 18PSI and run it stable. I don't care about setting land speed records and I doubt I will take it to the track more then once. I just want to get about 250-275hp out of it and keep it stable. I know absolutly nothing about turbo systems other then they run on exhaust and cost about $3000 to buy just the kit.

I have nothign but time since this isnt my daily driven car. What steps should I take? What parts do I need? Should I build a kit one ppart at a time or buy a stage 3 from HRC or Star? I am really a noob here so just lookin for some friendly advice. Thanks all

First off if you want to make that kind of power your going to need to build your engine. The stock motor will die at those levels. While your at it better get a new clutch that can also handle those figures. Right there IF you do ALL the work yourself (minus the head), your looking @ about 1000 for the engine kit(forged pistons and rods ect ect),250 for the head work, and about 600-700 for the clutch. Add that on top of the 3000 price tag of the turbo kit.
Hmmm 4950 dollars and YOU did all the work. Granted these are base figures, you probly can find those items for a signifigant ammount cheaper, but figure that your going so spend some cash on getting your car into those power levels.

Pick up the book "Maximum Boost" by corky bell. This book will tell you pretty much everything there is to know about turbochargers, and how they work, and what every component of a turbo kit does. It will tell you how to make your own kit, or how to install one that you have bought. It's a great book, and it will give you a good general understandind of turbos, and turbo systems. Go buy it. Now.

I second that, Maximum Boost is a great book. Sounds like you should get it. Also, if you have a chance to help someone else install a turbo kit on their car - fabricating your own becomes a little less intimidating.
