Hey guys ... since I installed my turbo stage 1 HRC kit I have had a problem with High egt's. I tried tuning the SFMU and I set it at around 65-68 psi idle just to get egt's to stay down (which is too high i think). Yesterday I changed my spark plugs to Autolite Resistors for nonturbo eclipses ( looked it up in the book). I gapped them first to .050 and i notices my egts rose faster... then i tried regapping them to .032 and the egts still rose the same as they did when gapped before.

I don't see any leaks in gas and i dont know why i need my fuel presure that high. Also, did i get the wrong plugs? Any help is appreciated.

How high are your EGT's getting? give us throttle pos., load, and egt #'s.

Use a one or two range colder plug than stock. if the plug you bought is "for" non-turbo eclipses, its probably a 6 heat range, which is too hot for turbo applications. get a 7 heat range. i use NKG BKR7E-11's from advanced auto parts. 1.50 a piece. and dont run your fuel pressure that high, you will destroy your stock injectors and blow your motor up in the process when in boost. you can get high EGT's from running TOO RICH also.

well when i first installed it i forgot to set the idle pressure and it was at 30 PSI and it soared fast as hell (I'm talking hitting 1600 in 2 gear at 3.5-4K RPM). So thats when I adjusted it higher and set it to 65PSI. Before the spark plug change at wide open throttle it barely came to 1575-1600 when it shifted to the next gear, so it seemed fine even though I needed to keep very high pressure...... I am boosting at 5 PSI and am automatic. ANy other info needed?

I dont THINK I am gettign high EGT's from running too rich but let me do some testing.


I will try to get those plugs and see what happens. I'll let you guys know.

Idle fuel pressure should be about 45-47 psi. What fuel pressures are you getting under boost? Are you SURE your fuel pressure is even rising in boost? Get the fuel pressure gauge under the wiper, so you can see it when you boost. At 6 psi boost, you should see about 85 psi or around there. At 8 psi, about 100-110 psi.
