#50220, "The REAL max boost of stage 2"

If I had a stage 2 turbo kit and a built 420a engine, but I wanted to boost more than 15psi, what would be the best route? HRC is helpful but they always tell you what you "should" do, not what you could push it to. Could I get away boosting low 20psi on 440cc injectors and s-fmu and racegas?? Does anyone have opinions about the e manage, DFI, or 8 injector setup. I was talkin to someone about the DFI the other day but I dont know if i could tune the shit out of my car perfecly with it so it makes me a tad nervous. For the most part I want to boost 14-18 lbs daily (93 octane), and at the track, I think it would be fun to step it up a couple psi or even a small shot of nos. And yes, money is nice so I would like to save as much of it as possible
Im an import noob so bare with me

The rods start bending at somewhere around 13psi. Tommyboy pushed the stock pistins/rods to their limit.

i think he's saying he's built the motor already...... you would be considered stage 3 then if you did your internals already.........

Well nobody can tell you what you can push it to because every car is different. You can put the boost up as high as you want with forged internals, you just have to make damn sure you have enough fuel with it.

Has anyone ran racegas 20+psi with a stock ecu and different fuel pump, injectors and safc or sfmu? Can someone give me a link to the 8 injector setup and a little info if possible

That is a real world example of someone running 22psi on a S16G with 100octane and daily driven using only a s-fmu, 440's, and a s-afc. Not bad considering other than pistons/rods/rings the engine is pretty much stock and the car is daily driven.

What about a bored and stroked engine? (2.2L , 2.4L etc)
I spoke to a mechanic today, not sure if he knows these cars specifically, but he said that when the walls are too thin , causes more heat, which cant be good since our cars dont have oil squirters to begin with. But with more displacement then that means more torque and higher levels of boost right?

He is correct, but that is not the only way we are increasing displacement. You can get away with up to .060 over from my experience. Anything more and you are asking for trouble. Howell modifies the crank and offers different rod lengths as well as moving the wrist pins on the pistons to make more displacement so you should not have that issue.

The displacement would make more power upon itself, but it would not necessarly allow for more boost. It will allow you to run a larger turbo and receive similar spool charecteristics which will make a big difference in power.

Oh,and f4st, be careful not to burn yourself on the exhaust when having your way with my car. emoji

The turbo is being held back still as it is. There is more in it. He is still on the dp HRC provides and a stock cat. These are holding him back along with a lot of other things. The car is not maximized for high boost yet. It will make considerably more at the same levels with a few more choice mods. This is a good picture of what a car would do with just the turbo system, internals, injectors, and some boost. Not bad when you look at it like that.

Oh, and for a different comparison, considering how large bryndens turbo is, I made 264 at 14psi a long time ago on the S16G.
