I here different stories all the time.Some people say it eventually will destroy your engine and others say its fine and safe on the engine.I have a 99 eclipse rs and would buy a wet kit and was wondering would it be fine to run a 50-75 shot and spray around once or twice a week?Is their any affects it will have on the engine that will make it give out faster than if i wasnt juiced?

Anything you do that makes more horsepower is going to wear a little faster on the motor. I have used nitrous on 5 vehicles so far and not had any problems. If installed and used properly with the correct jets for your application you should be able to install at least a 75 shot on any vehicle. My friend has run a 75 shot on his 180,000 mile 95 eclipse for about a year and a half and somehow it is still kicking. You shouldnt have a problem but there are always exceptions to everything. Bottom line is, do you want to take that chance.

A wet kit is actually safer as far as not having to worry about a lean condition sine it doesn't rely on the injectors to provide the increased fuel. The downside of a wet kit is that you have to make sure and not use it below 2500-3000 rpm and not hit the rev limiter with it. The nitrous/fuel mixture can backfire from the either of these when it puddles in the intake. If you use your head, nitrous works great.

Sorry for bringing this post back from the dead but I have a question about the reply right before this one. You said not to use a wet kit under 3K RPM's and not to hit the rev limiter with it.

I'm an A/T guy and I just want to hit the gas and go. now the "Zex" kit which I'm considering purchasing provides nitrous at WOT. Will I be able to stomp it and go in my A/T and just hol dthe gas down as it shifts through gears?

My insurance payment is WHAT now?!?

I dont know anyone on here that uses zex. My nos kit has a wot switch. as for the dont spray under 3k I think that if u spray it pretty much overwhelms the combustion chamber with fuel and nitrous.
nos makes a product called a window switch that can be set to shut off the nitrous just b4 u hit fuel cut 6500rpm automatically. But u are auto! If i were u i would stay with NOS or NX. But im still very new to nitrous and am still learning.

I've been running a zex kit for over a year now. You should always only use nitrous at WOT. Some kits do that via a switch hooked up to hit from the TB or under the pedal etc:. the zex kit hooks up to your TPS wire and learns the voltage curve and kicks it in at wot that way. very easy to install. and our cars have been fine with a dry kit at up to a 80 to 85 shot on stock injectors. anything more than I would run a wet kit. But you'll need a 95 or possibly early 96 car to run the zex dry kit. They should have wet kits out soon.


oh and as far as an auto, there even easier as you dont have to worry about hitting your rev limiter. and as far as using it under a certain rpm, well I just launch and as soon as I get traction and hook up in first, I hit the arming switch and dont look back.
