#49942, "Missing Link good for only up to 10psi???"

I was talking to my friends helping me install my kit, one of them has "stage" 4 and the other "stage" 6. Both of them are using the HRC black box with no problems, and they said that they heard that the missing link is only good up to 10psi. Is this true? Should I hang onto the black box for awhile?

for sure your stock MAP sensors wont take high boost. The ML will.

I run 15psi with a Missing Link.

Never gotten an ECU error message indicating MAP overload like it would if the ML weren't "good".

Stock MAP sensors can take more then you think. They're designed to be able to handle WIDE pressure variations, much more than 15psi of boost can give. Think intake manifold backfires.

heh, we call it "stage 6" because of his setup. 2.7L stroker kit, 2.4L head, stand alone fuel management, 25G turbo, etc, etc. emoji A few other things thrown into the mix too... emoji

Not to nit pick or anything, but if that guy who has a "stage 6" has a standalone fuel management computer, then he wouldn't be using HRC's little black box. He would be using a 3 bar MAP sensor most likely.

> 2.4L head

And just to add another comment. Who cares about 2.4' heads? They're the same as the 2.0l heads. The only difference is if you have a 2.0l neon head or a 2.0l 420a head.

Both of them are
>using the HRC black box with no problems, and they said that
>they heard that the missing link is only good up to 10psi. Is
>this true?

I absolutely LOVE it when people speculate about things they have no idea about. On what basis or experience or proof, can they base that assertion on? (Thank God for the requirement of proper foundation in courts of law)

In my mind, HRC black boxes may or may not work optimally with stock EFI cars. I also believe (perhaps wrongly) that they WILL eventually wear out with serious consequences that may occur as a result of such a failure.

I speak from both experience and proof.

since when is there a 2.7litre 420a running round that we dont know about?

is it a neon guy?

hrmmm...

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

yea, im exspecially curious about hows his firewall issues coming along with that 2.4 head, it places the exhaust manny right up against it. howd he manage to get that hood to close with that intake manifold right against the radiator? if he was usin a standalone, why is he using a missing link, wouldnt he more than likly be tuning on a 3bar map sensor. and yes, weere curious, send him on over.
