As we all know by now 99gsbbturbo lost all his oil through the breather. Would a catch can with a line going from the catch can to the oil return line coming from the turbo work. You could connect a T joint and run the line fron the catch can so if it dumped out it would be put back into the oil pan. I think this would be a smart thing to do. What do you guys think?

The problem is you shouldn't be losing enough oil to need a catch can out the breather. Now I haven't had my sh*t very long or boost very high but I have had nitrous and breather for yrs now. The only time I ever get any oil out of it was when I topped the oil off with the turbo. still all I got was a little running down the back from it (maybe 15cc. Thats about half of a medicine cup for those of you who aren't nurses). If I didn't hear people talking about it here all the time I wouldn't have even noticed it. If you need a catch or dirtying up your engine I think you should consider there's a problem.

You could always run it back to the intake like your suppose to legally. Your intake/turbo may get a little oil but you wont hurt anything.

That's an interesting point on how our car sometimes releases oil via the crankcase breather.

The question is how much oil? I think Murix once made the point on how much oil he initially had in his car was a stong indicator on how much will spill out. One time after REALLY pushing my car boosting all the way to 120 mph or so, I came back and (without a catchcan) spilled all kinds of oil through my breather into my intake. This occurred after really pushing my car into boost. Also, and I think more important in my case, is I probably had a lot of oil to begin with. Probably closer to 5 than 4 quarts as it should have been. Since then, I changed my oil back to 4 quarts or so, and ever since, I haven't noticed any oil coming back through the breather.

Lesson to be learned: TO reduce oil through the breather valve, don't fill it up too much in the first place.

You guys made some good points . I guess if there is that much oil coming out there is something wrong. I was just wondering. Actually I was bored.
