#49709, "proof that the greddy turbo timer runs win95"

today after spending about half an hour finding the last valve cover bolt (it was camoflauged, hiding in the hood latch) i started up my car to check for the mysterious oil leak that has been bothering me for quite some time now. i put the key in and i hear a strange clicking noize, and all of my idiot lights are REALLY dim. ok, so my battery is dead for some reason. i take the key out, but the clicking continues. my turbo timer decided to change it's blue backlight to red, and it wasn't displaying any text at all. i guess stuff tweaks out when it's not getting enough voltage.

so, i proceed to jumpstart my car. everything goes according to plan, until i try to turn the car off. the turbo timer still has a blank red screen. wtf?! i push the power button, nothing happens. i poke the other buttons, no effect. i came to the conclusion that my turbo timer had crashed and it won't let me turn my car off. i've never had a car part "crash" on me like any computer does.

confused and befuddled, i call The1Bill. i asked him if that's ever happened to him, or if he's ever heard of it happening before and he didn't. he reccomended that i "reboot" it, but i told him that i can't turn it off. he told me to just unhook the battery and let it chill for a few seconds, then try it again.

so, i unplug my coilpack and the engine shuts off. i unhook the negative battery terminal, and everything goes dark. put it back on, start it up, and the turbo timer is fine now. soooooooooooo weird.

has this happened to anyone else?

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
