I have been tring to figure out whats wrong with my motor. Sometimes it smokes bad, sometimes it dosent. Its burning oil, and when ever i boost in 5th gear (and sometimes 4th) it will stall out after puting it in nutral and leting off the gas. When i got the motor in it was smoking like hell, but its not as bad any more. I was thinking it was something to do with my pcv system. Yesterday i noticed oil on my Intercooler pipes, it looks like it sprayed from the valve cover gasket out, like it was presurized in there. I'm not sure, but i think presure in the crankcase / head is bad. Mabye that has something to do with the engine smoking (pcv system geting backed up). what do you guys think? mabye the pcv is the answer to all of my problems! emoji

When you are boosting, all the crankcase pressure/blow by is going out the breather line, not the PCV, since under boost, the PCV has pressure on it from the intake mani. If anything, your PCV valve is leaking boost pressure into the VC(the PCV isnt a good sealing check valve). Do you have a catch can on your breather line? If its going into the air filter intake, then i would get a catch can. When you say smoking, is it coming out of the tail pipe, or from the engine bay? If you have oil residue in the engine bay, then that isnt normal at all. Check you turbo oil feed line also to be sure thats not leaking...

Hrm. Well i know my valve cover is leaking oil. It looks like its geting sprayed out from pressure in there. Yesterday I hooked my pcv line to the air filter and I am just going to put a breather filter on the breather. I had a catch can on for about a month and check it daily, never once had a drop of oil in it. I have not done a comp test on it recently, but I'm not getting any vapor at all out of the oil dip stick. weird. any other ideas? i cant wait to get my other motor done, this one is pissing me off! emoji

look into a crankvent kit. look that up if you find a web site itll give alot of info on what could be causing pressure in the engine. if pressure is getting into your VC that also stealing power.

Cool, thanks. well i ran the pcv to my air filter and put a filter on the breather. Then washed out the engine bay to see if its still throwing oil out the seal. I need to check the torque on the VC bolts.. thanks!
