#4915, "Any turbo guys have this happen?...."

I drove the longest I've driven so far with the turbo last night (about an hour) at 70-80mph. I was on my way to the track with some friends... I slowed down to take the exit and stopped, then when I started accelerating again the car felt REALLY slugish. I drove another 15 minutes at 30-50mph to the track, and stopped the car. I tried accelerating, and the car just wouldn't move till the turbo spooled, then it took off like a bat out of hell... when I turned around and came back the other way, the Service Engine Soon light came on, and I had the same bog until the turbo kicked in. When I stopped the car and got out, my friend pointed at my exhaust, which was spewing black smoke out. Well that scared the crap out of me, so I parked the car and let it sit for about half an hour. When I started it up again, it ran perfectly...no black smoke, and no bogging.

Has this happened to anyone?

I think there must have been a glitch with the ecu and the o2 sensor, because black smoke means lots of fuel, and that would explain the bogging. After two passes at the strip, the Service Engine Soon light went away by itself, and the car was running perfectly. I did notice that when driving to the track, my EGTs got to 1350 (1550 since I put the probe in my dp), and that was in 5th gear at 75mph in vacuum. I don't know what caused that....but maybe it was what triggered the o2 sensor to dump more fuel into the engine?

Any help is appreciated.
The car is fine now, I just want to understand what happened so I can avoid it in the future.

Thanks

-Jeff

I personally have never experienced that but...I have noticed that sometimes my O2 sensor will raise the fuel pressure by itself...?? I dont know why really...but frankly Im about to replaced it...maybe the sensor is going bad ?
