Okay I tried searching, really. Im trying to install my boost gauge (my turbo kit is not on the car yet, but I want to get all the little things in first). Everyone says you have to tap a vacuum connection coming from the intake manifold. Where exactly is this connection? How big is the tube? Any pictures would really be helpful. Thanks guys.

I just put in my boost gauge yesterday. It's fairly simple actually, and I'll get you some pics later. All you have to do is run your nylon tube through the rubber gromet around your steering column, and route it to the 3-way splitter looking thing mounted towards the middle of your manifold (it will be facing towards the back of your car, aimed right at your firewall). Two of the outlets on this will be used, but the middle one has a rubber cap on the end. You can use this one, but you won't have all the fittings you need to attach the tube to it. I managed to work with the fittings the gauge included, but I also had to use a couple different sizes of rubber hose as well. You'll understand once I show you a pic, but I don't have my camera here right now. I'll snap some later and post em for ya.

I bought an Autometer Ultralite gauge off a friend, so I just got the gauge only. I need to buy all the rubber line to actually use the gauge. How big should the vacuum line be?

Here is how I installed my boost gauge.

I attached the nylon line for the boost gauge using a brass union instead of HRC's way of compressing the brass compression fitting and then sticking the nylon tube into a rubber hose (the compressed fitting is supposed to keep the nylon tube from coming out of the vacuum hose under boost). HRC's design didn't seem to be very well thought out and the brass union definitely is more reliable - won't allow a boost spike. My design works nicely since the boost guage already comes with a compression fitting on one side and NPT threads on the other. Here's a quick diagram (sizes are approximate, I don't remember the exact sizes I used):


1/4" Hose Barb to 1/4" Male NPT --> 1/4" Female NPT Union --> 1/4" Male Compression Fitting (supplied with Autometer Boost Gauge)

Hmm... that's far differen't than what I did, KTEclipse... I like yours better emoji. I'll end up doing something a little different with mine. I don't trust it yet.

Doesn't matter where you tap it, as long as its after the TB on the intake manifold. If you wanted to, you could drill a hole and tap it for another hose barb to take the boost gauge line.

The size of the line doesn't matter. You're not dealing with flow, just pressure changes. As long as its big enough to send a good vacuum/pressure signal, it'll work.
