#48881, "extra settings in new safc."

Hey guys.. well my question is this.
I know what settings we need to input in the safc for our car such as pressure 6in and 6 out, arrow up, etc etc.
the thing is bought this unit used from some guy and there are settings in other areas that I'm not supposed to touch. for example in the same area as the pressure input (6in and 6out) there are other places to input (in and out) numbers. what should these be at, cus mine are set at 1 and I don't know if this is from the factory or not.

can someone tell me what all the settings should be at when the unit is purchased new? I think this will help me figure out why my car runs so weird.
Thanks!

If you are talking about the setting under th options like karmen, then they are irrelivant. The S-AFC only looks at the setting you have under the one you have selected, in our case pressure.

ok so i will leave all the other settings alone.
there is one aspect of tuning the low settings (according to Guy's instructions) that I don't understand. He says that after setting the different rpm percentange points then we....

"What you have to do next is take a nice little drive on a long empty road, with a passenger....
OK so, now you get to about 2000rpm in third gear and make sure that the SAFC is displaying rpm and throttle position (you have to make sure that your TPS value is less than what you set the LoThrtl — about 3 5%)."

What does he mean by that? is that?
that is the only thing left for me. thanks!

I don't have any experience with the SAFC myself, but from what I gather, he's trying to say that if you are tuning your low throttle fuel curve, you have to make sure the SAFC thinks you are indeed at a low throttle situation. Say you are pressing the throttle down about 35 percent. That may be low throttle to you, but you also need to make sure you have the SAFC set up to think 35% and lower are the throttle levels you are wishing to tune. I don't know if you can actually change what the values that the SAFC interprets to be different throttle situations, but I would imagine you can.

That may be a little confusing. Hopefully that makes any sort of sense. You're just trying to make sure you're tuning the right places.

that makes complete sense.. heheh guess i just had to read it 10 times and have you explain it that way! wow talk about having a brain fart! great, time to tune now!
ohh and yeah we can set whatever value we wish as low throttle and high throttle.

Thanks!

Awesome... something I said made sense. Good stuff. Let me know how the tuning works out for ya! Watch out for timing advance.. the SAFC is known to produce unwanted timing advance, because of the nature of fooling the ECU by altering the MAP sensor voltage (thats all the SAFC really does).

yes, you can set the LO and HI throttle positions wherever you want.

I forget exactly where it is, but if you can't find it write back and I'll go out and find it on mine for you.
