for all those with star kits: im not sure if all of them are like this, but the one im helping justin99rs put on his car has a t-adapter thing that attaches between the block and the oil pressure sender. the problem is that when the "t" is fully tightened, theres no way to attach the oil suppy line to it because its facing in a direction that makes this physically impossible. i loosend it about 1/2 turn and i could get it on there. do you think this will cause a problem? were gonna watch it carefully on startup, and we used plenty of teflon tape on the connections, but considering im the one that hooked it all up, id like to NOT fry justins turbo, . anyone with a similar experience?

not to sure about the star kits, but i assume that the T fitting is pretty much the same as the hrc one. w/ mine the only way it would fit is to have the outlet for the oil feed facing up and slightly to the left. the hrc instructions even say this. i would try and get another turn out of it to get it into that position. once it's in that position, it's really a PITA to get the oil line screwed in, but it'll go. what i did was i lined the oil fitting up on the T w/ my one hand, and had someone on the outside turn the whole line clockwise to start the threads, then just use a wrench to turn it a very little bit at a time until you finally get the line tightened to the T. it's a PITA, but you don't want any of that leaking. mine leaked b/c of a broken fitting, and had i not caught it right away, i woulda fried the turbo.

well im assuming you are using the aluminum one that came with the kit right? scrap it. Mine just stripped the first time i tried to out it in, i guess its too soft and i dinged it on the way down.

I just took it to home depot and bought a brass one. Works better and gives a bit more clearance. Yeah you might not be able to get it all the way in or all that tight. A little bit loost isnt that bad. Just not like a whole turn left or something.

Oh and I think your suppose to use teflon paste not the tape. Good luck and hope it works out.

Well, the way i've always done it is to (if i remember right..)install the nipple for the oil feed line into the T fitting, then install the T fitting, and orient the T fitting with the instaled feed line nipple in such a way that you can thread the line onto it.

Now, its beena while since i've installed one, so forgive me if that's blatently impossible or anything.

forgive me for being moronic (the star kit didnt come w/ instructions, we printed some out but they are very vague), but by "nipple" do you mean a male-to-male fitting that secures to the "t" that allows the female end of the oil hose to thread to? wow, that is a hard to understand sentence, but its the best i can do, LOL. i tried, that, but there STILL isnt enough clearence to screw on the braided line. i might fiddle some more with it tommorow, and i might have to disconnect some stuff and do it from the top of the engine to get better leverage. those stupid axles really get in the way sometimes!! thanks everybody!

I don't have a good answer to your question, but use teflon paste, not teflon tape. Tape comes apart in little strands that build up in your oil pump over time.

just tighten it and when you feel it starting to get tight as in almost bottoming out just tighten it to a direction you want it to go. haha I just put my engine back in haha hope it doesn't leak.

I found the best way to go was to buy fittings at my local hardware store and haven't seen a leak from it, but seen leaks from every where else, my opinion is partly biased because my fitting that came with my STAR kit was threaded to small on the side of the oil sensor, so I couldn't use it anyway.
