I'd like to install it myself, but I dont think I have all the tools or the knowledge. Probably the biggest thing I've done was to install my sportlines, and they were a bitch! If it wasn't too expensive, I figured I would just take it to a shop.

Which kit are you isntalling? If you go to the ASOG board (phoenix.asog.net), there's a TON of people in that area that'll help you out. If you're willing to make a drive, I live in Northern VA (Centreville) and Corbin is in Manassas. If it's the HRC kit, I"ve done it on my car before...pretty simple and straight forward to do. If you can read, you can install it. And you don't need a bunch of extravagent tools to do it either. The only thing you might need is a 1 1/16" socket for the oil sending unit. Other than that, I used basic wrenches and sockets and it took me about a weekend to do. Let me know what you wanna do! If you wanna stay down there and do it, I'm game to come down for a weekend to help ya out!

I don't know of any trustworthy shops in that area (I grew up in NN). You're probably better off doing it yourself, possibly with the help of fellow 2GNT (ASOG) guys. I have almost always been dissapointed with the work of shops/dealers. I do everything I can myself nowdays. The learning curve can be steep, but you know how to fix it after doing it once.

I went out last night and met up with a guy who has a 99 GS w/ a HRC stage 2 kit. He said he bought it when they were first coming out with it and some shop in VaBeach installed it for him for $900. The local people may know him, plates say "8 UR SI". But, he said he's friends with a guy nammed Dee that works at a place on Mercury Blvd in Hampton called Tune Up Plus. He himself is up to about stage 4 with his eclipse and has installed about 6 or 7 HRC and STAR kits in the area. He said he'll install a stage 1 kit for about $400. Anybody hear about this shop or guy? See, I cant really afford to have my car down for a long time, its my only vehicle. I really do apprechiate the offers to help, if this shop turns out to be a bust I'll definetly need some extra hands emoji

I called Direct Performance in VaBeach today, they said they normally charge $1000 but there running a special, "only" $850, and the car would have to be in the shop for a week. The hell with that! Their crazy. The one shop I mentioned earlier is only $400 and will take one to two days. I think thats pretty reasonable. Its not that I wouldn't love to do it myself, I just really dont have the time right now.

i'd reccomend doing it yourself, its not hard to do, just time consuming and a lot of work....what makes it tough is all the little BS you have to deal with-getting old stuff off, posistioning of the new stuff....but if you did springs yourself, its not any harder than that....and you don't need any special tools...just a o2 sensor socket and the 1 1/16th inch oil pressure switch socket.. besides that a simple set up sockets with some extensions is all you need...
