How many have done it?

I'll be running a stage one/two (depending on when I get that intercooler) with a 10.5 to one compression ratio. As of right now I don't plan to exceed 6-7psi untill the motor is properly broken in and I have my injectors.

As for my question-

Would I need ignition retard at these boost levels?

I should also add that if I have time I will have the pistons ceramic coated too emoji In case that will lower my chances of detonation and not require me to purchase something to control ignition timing.

I would think about getting the ignition retard with that high of compression you well have very limited room for error... Just take your time tuning.

I'm doing it just need to get the engine back in the car. What would you use to retard timing for boost? a MSD ignition?

its not like you'll blow it up. If you don't boost that much its ok it'll still be fast. Just make sure everything runs good like AF ratio is a little rich EGTs under 1600 and all should be well. Haha that's what I'm guessing though. Then again there is that timing advance thing.

How far can you boost without some kinda retard controller (haha that sound funny) on 10.5:1 so I know where to limit my boost if I ever get there.

I don't see you having any problem being just stge 1 or 2. Beyond that I would look into knock sensor and timing retard.
