Ok Tim you need to scrap what you did to your arm and do this.....
My turbo spools up @ about 2200 RMP insted of the 3000 it was @ before...much better!

You can see from these pictures what needs to be done...of course I would recomend doing this with the turbo off of the car cause it was a real pita to do wit it on. It took me about 3hrs total to finish this out.


We started with this...which is set for 5-6lbs and spools slow cause the wastegate flapper is open partialy....

You end up with this which is set for 4lbs and spools @ about 2200 rpms . Actually you need the arm to be running at teh sam angle as the bracket..I took this pic before the last bend cause my battery was going dead. And you will also need to bend the connecting end (the flat end) at a slight angle downward to make it fit nice and flat on the wastegate flapper connection.
I used a spring from wall mart, not alot of tension on it but enough that it was kinda hard to compress with my hands. (since i knew that i couuld adjust the tension with the nut on the end I didn't really care much how tough the spring was just as long as it is not too hard to compress)
Then I threaded it down (after the bends of course) on both ends as far as I could. Made the last couple of measurements and fit changes, and there she is! It looks alot cleaner with the bracket bent in the right angle...but I'm sure you get the idea! This works freaking GREAT man. You may have to drill different holes to bolt her in cause it does not quite sit in the same spot, but that was just on my turbo, it may be differnt on yours. You will get the idea.....Im going to upload some video to my imagestation site tonight and post another thread tomorrow I hope. I want others to see how fast this thing spools! It is great.

Nice work man! Nice work. what type of spring and how long is it. and did you cut out any portion of the stock acuator arm to do it, or is it the same factory lenght?

Me and my shop helper (this guy need to be on junk yard wars) looked at that same option but got ourselves cinvinced that it wouldn't work. i see were our error in thinking was now and i shall do the same thing in the next few days!

Ya man you have to actually cut about 1' off of her...But I would do a trial and error process on that one cause you don't want to cut too much...
The spring I used came off of .....don't laugh...a Wright Products "Spring and Chain Door Retainer" worked great and only cost 2.29. It is product # 38462 00590 . At least that is the SKU on the back of the package.

is the objective to modding the wastegate is to make the arm basically longer correct so we can run lower than stock boosts?
