#46883, "hissing after injector/sfmu install"

just started the car after injector/sfmu install, and it seems to run fine, but there's this fairly loud hissing sound coming from that pass side of the engine bay. it sounds like REALLY loud injector tick, or a bad vac leak, but there are no vac leaks and the car idles fine. what could it be? do the 30lb ford injects or maybe the sfmu sound like that?

I don't know what it is but I can help rule out. My 440's don't even have a real loud tick unless you stick your head down there so I wouldn't think it'd be that. The SFMU makes absolutely no sound if it's on right and not broken. Are you sure it's not a vac leak? Try driving the car and when you push the clutch in see if the RPM's hover. If they do you probably have a big vac leak.

ok, i'm an idiot, hehe, i disconnected the hardline that the tb vac line connects to on the pass side when i was installing all the fuel fittings and didn't connect it back up. that was the hissing. wierd thing is it idled fine while that was disconnected. so everything seems to run fine after the sfmu/fuel pump/injector install. one thing though, i started it up and idled it for a while, then i shut it down and checked everything over. it was about 10-15mins before i tried starting it again and it took a few more turns then normal before it started and then died right away. kinda like what happens after you reset your ecu. the next time it started right up. it was like the fuel lines emptied out a bit in the 15min it was off, however there are no leaks and i ran it hard for a good 15 min and the car runs great and idles just like stock. dunno what it could be. i'm gonna try it again after a lil while.
