Recently, I have aquired a IHI RHB5 turbo in excelent shape for almost nothing. but, my question is: is this turbo too small for the 420A ('95 Eclipse GS). The exhaust port seems really small for the manifolds. Will this turbo cause exhaust lock or will it work just fine?

What car did it come off of? There are many different size RHB5's. It's the IHI equivelent to the T-3. By the way you described the exhaust flange it sounds like it came from a probe. Is the flange square of rectangle. Is the port round or rectangle with one rounded side? The ones that came on the probes are rather small, but wouldn't be too small. The ones that came on the T-birds were moderate size.

Not sure what car it came off of....but, the flange is square with the ports round (both exhaust inlet and exit). 4 bolt set-up on exhaust exit flange.

yeah it could have come off of either, but it is a great turbo either way... i just bought one also for a custom setup im doing, and they will work perfect for our application. the o2 housing already points down for the downpipe, and with the mount on the manifold, all the way to the right, it fits perfect also...

hope this helps

anyone ever thought of a drive-thru parts store? that would be cool!

The o2 housing on the t-bird rhb5 points in the right direction, but I'm pretty sure the one from the probe would point toward the radiator.

It must be the one from the probe. The O2 housing does point towards the radiator. Regardless, the turbo sounds like a good place to start. I did notice that there are 2 extra inlet/outlet hoses/pipes going into the mid oil section of the turbo. Were the turbos water cooled also?? Can these 2 ports be eliminated or do they have to be used also?

One other thing. There is a barbed TEE on the O2 outlet where does this get connected or if at all.

Thanks for the NFO
