#46328, "8 injector setup & gasket question"
Apr-07-03 09:25 AM by extreme97nt

OK, I have my parts for the 8 injector setup comming in. I am curious if I would be able to make it have a returnless fuel system. Would it be possible to have the fpr in the back by the tank? Or would it be a wiser choice to run a return line? Just looking to make the setup as neat as possible. Also what is the best gasket set to run if I am turbo? i.e head gasket, exhaust. and where can I get it from.TIA

Stock HG is the one you want. For the return line, I believe you will have to have one, but don't quote me on that cause I'm not 100% sure. For the exhaust gasket I think the stocker will be fine there as well.

yah read my mind man. Im not for showing off the fancy fpr. And once you set it you wont have to be messing with it till you add some thing else. uhm. Ill go put the car on the ramps maybe and try and see if i can fit the fpr in there.

Cool yeah deffinatly check into that. It should also work for people running the FUM and looking to lower the idle FP to run bigger injectors.

What fpr did you get? The aeromotive 1:1 riser like in Corbin's writeup? That one requires a return line.

I suppose you could jury rig a way to use the Aeromotive with a returnless setup. But, there's no way you could convince me that it would be a good idea. Just run a return line and mount the Aeromotive in the engine bay. It is small and can be hidden. It won't look that bad. You will want to adjust the FPR frequently while tuning. That would suck if you had to crawl under the car to do it.

Yeah that is a good point. I will just use braided steel lines and nice an fittings to make it look bling. Yes I bought the Aeromotive 1:1fpr.

while you guys are on this top.

Corbin, the 96 fuel rail doesn't have the test port on the end of the rail. It's 3/4 the way down the rail between injector 1 and 2. I just bought a 96 rail (and my cars a 96). I'm hoping it's still possible to use these rails for the 8-injector set-up.

I just thought I would point that out so others don't get confused like I did.

I'll let you guys know what it looks like after I get everything done.

Yeah...I just saw that a few weeks ago. Kirby bought a '96 rail and it had the fitting 3/4 the way down. I'd try to find a '97+ rail. If you really can't find one, the '96 will suffice. I'll try to remember to make a change to my web pages.

my cousin has a 97 gs and his test port etc is not on the ends. so you might want to ask whoever you buy it from at what location the port is on.

I give up! There's no counting on what chrysler gave us. I'll remove the year recommendation and change it to "rails with test port on the end".

This is not on the record but if you get a 98 or 99 you "SHOULD" be ok. If you can't find one call Bob Kise he has a few left.

The 96 style rail should work just fine. Just use a 90 degree hose fitting. Also if you need to attach anything to the rail I found that brazing works great! My testport on my car now cracked off so I had to braze it on. All you need is mapp gas and some brazing rod. Just thought it was an interesting alternative to welding. Any one can do it.
