#45789, "My Custom Turbo Setup!"

Sup guys.
After 3 months of research and talking and asking and questioning...and da da da da da..... I finally started my custom turbo setup yesterday.
My first part of my turbo kit is the turbo with internal wastegate.
It's a Small 16G Mitsubishi Turbo and got it for $480.
I konw the I still have a LONG way to go to finish my list, but I will keep my check list below posted so others who want to do their own custom kit will have a great outline!! Also, I will take about 5-10 pictures per parts I got, and video and pictures through out my WHOLE installation. That will definitely help the future people to do their custom kit! emoji

Cast turbo exhaust Manifold = $250
*Turbo = $480
*Wastegate = $0
Intercooler = $
Intercooler Piping = $
Blowoff Value = $
Downpipe = $
O2 Housing = $50
A/F Gauge = $
Boost Gauge = $
EGT Gauge = $
Missing Link = $50
Vortech SFMU = $
Walbro 255 GPH high pressure pump = $
Oil Line Kit = $80

Hopefully, I can really successfully finish my turbo kit and install it correctly without blowing my engine! I am inexperience..lol..but I will try my best!! Before I can help others after I am done, now I need to ask you guys a few questions first!!! BTW, can you guys give me a estimate or range of cost for the above part list part?? individual cost for NEW and used. So I can have an idea.

My questions are these:
1) I got my turbo yesterday, and it's Small 16G (I believe it's Mitsubishi) Since it has the logo on the wastegate!
And it comes with the wastegate. My problem is, when I read online, people said modify the spring and etc to change the PSI for the wastegate. But for this, Ican't open it.. (I don' tkonw how at least) so... what is the preset PSI on this wastegate? do anyof you konw?

2) From the above part list, what other parts I still need? I mean anything to as small as a gasket. like what pipe to for what? and so on... sensor? electronic parts? ....?? Please, I only want to go to Stage II setting, so nothing really fancy... just things that is good for my engine and something I need. Thanks.

3) Lastly, for my turbo, it has 4 hole or more in the middle of the turbo, I know they are for oil in/out, and water in/out. (is there one hole for a sensor?) well, if I want to run oil, do I need to run water? or I just use BOTH? or I have to use both??? I mean, the water is for cooling, and oil is to smooth the turbo turning, so do I run both?? also, I live in cold area, so I can't use water, so do I connect to the coolant instead of water?

Thanks guys!!
I hope this will work out for me.
Any help or suggestion or ideas or parts that I need is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks agian.

Stock boost on the TD05H 16G should be 10psi. There arent any holes for any sensors. You technically only "have" to use the oil holes, but I highly recommend cooling the turbo. Theres no water involved, youre supposed to tap the coolant that runs into your engine.

Here's some good info about testing AND lowering the wastgate cracking pressure. http://www.denverspeed.com/wastegates.html

EDIT: oh, and it sounds like a 1g SMIC would probably do well for you. I got mine for $50, but some people have found them for less.

BTW guys.... if I don't want to modify the current stock wastegate, as shown in the website link above.
Is there any other way I can use an external wastegate?
Thanks.

Gil.

Yes you can use a external wastegate, but you have to eliminate the internal wastegate. I think you can buy a 5 psi internal wastegate from hrc but is to expensive, try to buy it used is more cheaper. For the sfmu go to www.summitracing.com I think is 280 bucks but Im not sure. Remember you need some fitting to run the fuel line from the test port on the fuel rail to sfmu and run a return line back to the tank. You still need a fp guage because you want to monitor you fp under boost. If you not want to run very high fp you need to buy bigger injectors, because you are going to run like 8 or 9 psi 30lb injector will do the job. This is optional but if you want to take good care of your 16g buy a turbo timer. Thats all I can think for now. Any more questions just as emoji

PS: you can buy the sfmu directly from vortech, and buy the optional black hard spring.

Yeah, you can weld the wastegate flapper shut and run an external one. I got a 14b, and the wastegate actuator was all smashed up during shipment, so I ended up buying a 6psi HRC Stage 1 actuator from somebody on the board for $25. You may want to post a WTB in the for sale forum if you're interested in keeping the internal wastegate.

Also, I got my 255 Walbro at http://www.importpoweronline.com/ for $105 shipped. That was the cheapest price I could find on them.

Sup... Thanks for the link.
I went on that site and check on the price ..it is $105.
But I have a questions. (http://www.importpoweronline.com)
For the title of the pump, it said "Walbro 255 LPH high pressure pump" but when I read around the forum and from research, people usually say they use the "Walbro 255 GPH high pressure pump". So one is LPH and GPH... so are they the same? or GPH is better? or what?

Thanks.

It should be in LPH. GPH is gallons per hour and thats not what the pump is rated in. Hypothetically a 190 GPH pump would actually flow 863.55 LPH, and thats just rediculous emoji
