Driving down to La Jolla (SD) and before i was about to get off the freeway a stinge of that sweet smelling burnt coolant aroma passed under my nose. Thats odd. I know eveything is full and their cant be any leaks cause i havnt touched any of my cooling components. Keep in mind i only have my boost guage hooked up. I soon forgot about it and it proly took a mile before smoke started billowing out the passenger side of the hood. I look down at my factory endowed guages and my temp guage was through the roof. I never look at that guage because it only moves unless you are really in trouble. The dial stays right smack in the middle untill something really wrong disturbes it, then it shoots up like a rocket. This little inconvience was given to us as a result of previous owners flippin out and taking their cars to the dealership after seeing the guage actually read the right temperatures. So my story, I popped open the hood and i and i say (#&$#)$ great! Then i relaxe and think, "well I knew that i was going to have to get pistons and Johnson rods some day, I just didnt think it would be so soon." It turns out that i had a faulty upper radiator spring loaded factory clamp. I putted to a japanese automotive Tech that was still open stopping along the way to re-apply water in the radiator. They gave me a free hose clamp and did about $60 worth of diagnostics that i didnt ask for, for free. I just wanted to leave. Moral of the story, replace those clamps! If you have ever taken them off before, replace them now with better clamps or you'll be sorry. I wasted about 3 hours of my day and I got a diagnostic that told me that i was running rich. Nice people though.

ps. needlesstosay my engine is still good (cumin home i had a nice liitle run-in with an unsuspecting 00 celica gt-s)
