#45626, "Hey guys, let me know what you think!"

Honestly I like posting here than in any other forum, and I know personally that this is an ADVANCED discussion, however I want some opinions on this topic.

Here's the deal, just to be on the safe side I want other's opinions. I'm swapping pistons and rods this weekend, eagle rods weisco pistons (8.5:1). I'm also running at this time 310's with a regular vortech fmu (not the SFMU) and I don't have an SAFC either. I have a star stage 2 with a t04e ball bearing turbo.

Ok that's what I have, now here is the HUGE question, after the breakin period what is, in your opinion, a good PSI setting for this turbo without having to tune it very much. BTW, I have NO idea other than to swap out my disk (cause I'm not sure which disk I have in there) to tune my fuel pressure. Thanx for your opinions in advance.

Actually, this is not advanced at all. I am going to move it into the turbo section since a search would have answered the question. emoji

the disk that comes with the star kit is the 12:1 disk. with that set up and no s-afc i would say you would probably be good for 10 psi.you will be running very rich though on the low rpm due to the increase in fuel flow.
swap in the disk for a 4:1 or 3:1 disk, get a s-afc and 415's or 440's and you should be able to run 15psi. I believe that used to be Dino's set up.

Hey 98 glad to see you on the board. With your current setup 10psi is about where you can go with minimal tuning. DeanoD on this board uses the exact same setup for 10psi. you will need a diff disk though, I believe it is 8:1 but I would e-mail him if I were you. You could also try other pressures with different disks. EX: 6:1 disk at x pressure but that would require tuning. So 10psi if you want to follow a proven program, if you want to create your own trail and tune then you can do several things.

Ok well the new motor is being built outside the car in my garage, but what if I want to go higher than 15psi? can someone list some of the major setups guys are running on there cars, I want something like 18psi on 93octane! At least that's what I'm gunning for! I was going to stick with 15psi on the street because that's what I preach to everyone but personally I've always pushed it myself, so what do you guys think about 18psi on pump gas, and what kinda timing/ignition controller will i be needing in your opinion. I was thinking an S-AFC with an MSD DIS-2 would work, but I've also had the notion to go to the greddy emanage with the injector and ignition harnesses. What do you think?

The emanage will work for what you need, that is if you have the cash for it! emoji
personally i would not rely on the s-afc for that high a tuning project.

Why does everyone stick to 15psi? This is an artifical mental barrier we tried to break a long time ago from people on this board. Not sure what the obssession with that number is. We have been running 18-20psi on pump gas for some time on our cars. I would run more if I thought I could get away with it.

Go look at www.armond30.com and look at some of the setups there.

Mark is managing with just 440's, S-FMU, and S-AFC just fine.

I have 525's, 1:1 fpr, and the e-manage. I will know how well this works on my new turbo soon.
