#45447, "question about AN hose ends"

does anyone use these in their fuel system? i'm talking about the fittings that seem to pinch the end of the hose to stay on. are they reliable to use w/ rubber fuel lines?

Depends on the hose end. Most "ends" are made for braided steel lines. Most fittings are made either to adapt to a standard sized fitting or another Army-Navy fitting.

Ask the manufacturer if their ends are compatable with plain high pressure rubber hose.

do you know of any manufacturers that sell hose ends that are compatible? i was thinking of the earl's auto-fit or super-stock hose ends. it seems like their super stock hoses are rubber, from the pictures anyway. what would be a good alternative instead of using hose ends in order to couple to AN fittings? to use hose barbs you would need to have like 6 fittings in order to get from 6AN to 1/4" hose barb, b/c all the hose barbs have NPT fittings on their opposite end.

I got my fittings at a local Speed shop, and they were suposedly "clampless" fittings. The barbs were very heavy and larger than normal barbs, but i uses a hose clamp just in case. I believe Summit sells the ones i got( red and blue color)

i just oredered a ton of fittings from anplumbing.com... summit didn't have all the ones i needed. i feel like i'm building one of those erector set thingies, hehe.. geez thanks fellas. i ended up deciding on running 6AN steel braided from the rail to the sfmu, w/ the various fittings and such. then ising hose barbs to connect to the HRC rubber fuel return line. getting from 6AN to 1/4" hose barb was a pain and pretty expensive. thanks again fellas

Hey guy's summit sells an to barb connectors. For my 8 inj. setup I bought 4 -4an to barb fittings. 2 for the fuel rail and 2 for the regulator. Earls and areoquip make these fittings. I would call back and ask them again for a -6an to barb fitting.

i'll post a list of exactly what fitting i used as soon as they come and i'm sure that they're all correct

as for summit, i didn't call them, but i search their whole fittings section and couldn't find any AN to barb fittings, i also searched many times at anplumbing.com(where i ordered the stuff) and they didn't have any listed either. the only barbs were npt to barb, so i got some AN to npt fittings to connect. that's for the outlet on the sfmu, for the inlet i got earls perm-o-flex and some hose ends and connectors and stuff.
