How do you get the hole on the bracket that holds the pump up to line up with the hole on the sending unit?? It's about 1/4 inch off... I seem to remember reading about this before, but cant remember the solution to this problem. Thanks for the help.

I guess it really matters on the pump you have because my pump fit pretty good so that wasn't my problem, I had a problem with the new filter that attached to the bottom, with it on there I couldn't get the assembly to drop in so I just used the filter of the stock pump. I'm not sure if thats bad or not. On a website for installing a pumpp in a different car they said to use zipties to hold it there, so you could try that as a temperary solutio

Anyone know if I can just drill a hole 1/4" below the current hole in the bracket that rests against the bottom of the pump. This way the pump will sit down 1/4 inch lower in the tank, but I dont see a problem with that... If anyone can help ASAP its much appreciated since its all dissassembled now and I cant really do much till I get this figured out. TIA

Just drill a hold on the fuel pump assembly so that it will line up with the other hole of the Walbro pump. Then you will be able to fit the screw with the necessary height.

i ditched the lower half of the bracket entirely and used two big hose clamps. been fine for almost three years..

You need to pull the rubber hose off. Inside it is a small restriction piece, remove it. Trim 1/4 off the rubber hose and re-install it. The holes will line up and you can mount it just like the factory pump.

Cool, thanks for the help guys. I sort of messed up a bit though. The pump fell off of my workbench and that metal collet looking piece came off the end of the pump outlet and got bent. I was able to reshape it and secure it back onto the plastic outlet, but then the plastic piece that snaps onto the metal collet wouldn't snap on. I pressed it down as far as I could and pushed it tight into the sending unit hoping that it will hold that plastic piece in place. It seems to be fine so far, but I will probably try to find new metal and plastic pieces and take care of it soon. Its always something lol.

Here is my fix (not sure if it is too late or not):
I purchased the Walbro GSS342 pump (this is the pump for the 1996 Eclipse Turbo). Some fuel pump sending unit modifications had to be made. The Walbro pump is slightly longer than the stock pump. The hard fuel supply line (not the rubber fuel injection hose that connects the hard line to the stock pump - remove the rubber hose and you'll expose the hard line) on the sending unit had to be cut approximately a 1/4". The pump outlet is then connected to the sending unit supply line with 5/16 fuel injection hose and two clamps (one on the pump supply port and one on the sending unit supply line). By cutting the hard line, no modifications had to be made to the mounting bracket (no hole drilling). After cutting the hard line, the pump will line up perfectly using all stock equipment except for the pump. Very easy install.
I recommend doing it this way as the pump will then sit in the tank at the same level that the stock pump did.
NOTE: Remember to clean all the shavings from the hard line once you finish the cut. You do not want any metal shavings entering your engine. I used compressed air and some q-tips to get everything out.

^^^^^^^ I did this too. The inlet into the fuel pump has a nipple of sorts, I just hacked that off. Fit perfectly. The directions even said to use zip ties though.

Well, I just drilled a hole in the lower bracket 1/4 inch lower and droped it in. The pump sitting lower in the tank shouldnt have any negative effect that I can think of. The sending unit for the fuel gauge is not part of that assembly. Everything is working well as far as I can tell. B.T.W. its soooooo nice not listening to the Accel inline pump anymore. Silence is golden
