good things about the fmic. well i LOVE fmic look.

but at the same time i kinda like the sleeper of an smic. its cheaper too.

i plan to up the boost more after my bottom end rebuild-maybe at 8psi but not past 10psi cause reliability is what im after.

also last question, safety wise, with the STOCK ENGINE and at 5 psi, which will COOL THE ENGINE MORE, 1g smic or starion fmic.

Ive heard only bad things about the starion / conquest FMIC's. Stick with the 1G OEM you should be more than fine for 5psi of boost. Remember, most turbo guys run these intercoolers upwards of 15psi.

I have a 1g SMIC and have no pressure loss and it cost me 33.95 to put together(15 for IC, 15 for piping, 3.95 for engine paint for looks!) I run 5 psi and plan to run 8 psi soon on it. Effective and cheap, what more could you ask. BTW Starion would cool a little better, but probably not enough to notice between the two at 5-8 psi.

Shit is all apart. Typical...

I'm very happy with my starion.

I'm looking forward to an upgraed on of these days, but this FMIC has always treated me well, with apparently all the intercooling I've needed for up to 10 psi at times.

Starion is fine. Thats a Starion in my sig pic. IG holding up at 15psi? Maybe on a smaller turbo but Ill assume he is getting either a Star or Hahn kit. I wouldn't boost over 8psi w/ a smaller stock SMIC. Im sure you can boost more and Im sure people on here do but its a lot safer using a FMIC.

i'm sure lots of 1g'ers boost upwards of 15 psi on their stock SMIC, the one that lots of people have including me. i think that 15 psi is kind of pushing it, but whatever. i'm putting 10-12 psi through it and it's fine.

For me, it's always about the money. If you got it, and the FM is reliable, get it - it'll look way cooler. If you can't afford, use a 1G - there's no shame in that. At that low a PSI your cooling really isn't an issue.

If you wanted a sleeper you could also put in a grille to hide the nice little item you got alot better, if its a 97+ put in a Grillcraft grille.

Where are the endtanks on that FMIC? Is it a side to side? How would you run the IC piping... Another issue is that SMIC piping is MUCH easier to make than FMIC piping emoji
