This has been brought up before but i want to bring it up again because i think it may be exactly what i was looking for in a fuel setup.
The SMC (super map controller) can allow us to run larger injectors (440-550cc) and a 1:1 rise rate fpr, eliminating the need for an fmu. it could be good for us under 15 psi people.
I regularly check the honda-tech.com forums and a lot of the turbo people over there are having good results with this setup.
Last time this was brought up, i remember someone saying this was just a glorified safc, but i do not think this is the case. If anyone is currently using this setup (which i dont think anyone is) feel free to speak up.
damn so this thing can't control over 15psi, i mean if you really are going to get injectors as big as 440cc or 550cc, with the stock fuel pressure you're actually have enough fuel to go over 15psi, i wouldn't want to buy a controller that's only limited to that much. what will it do if goes over 15psi it just cuts off?
It's not even a glorafied AFC, its a shitty version. At least the AFC has a nice screen that's nice to put in the cab. If I had one of those SMCs I'd probably hide it under the dash or under the batterty. Basically it does the same exact thing as the SAFC - modify the MAP value by a certain percentage at various RPM increments.
I use a Boxer series Hyper-R SFC. Now THAT device IS a glorified AFC. Basically it does the same thing as the AFC AND it has a tach AND it has a speedo AND it has a blinky o2 mointor(rich/lean lights) AND it gives you 0-100m, 0-200m, 0-400m times and trap speeds. But again, basically it does the same exact thing as the SAFC - modify the MAP value by a certain percentage at various RPM increments. Check it out - http://www.field-net.co.jp/english/lineup/hyper-r/
Maybe the honda computers don't base the timing on MAP value but ours do. Keep an eye on timing when you use a device like this - especially if you run alot of boost. Essentially - you need to follow the advice that people give about using an SAFC when using a device like this.
the reason why i liked this setup is because it gets rid of the fmu, u just need to get a 1:1 fpr. this setup would be a lot better than running higher fuel pressure imo.
If your running over 15psi i guess you would not use this product. but for those of us who are running 15 and under psi -and dont care about having a blue light-up display safc that says "hey, break into my car,"- it might be a good idea.
"Works with other factory NA engines and factory boosted engines with a MAP sensor"
"The SMC plus simplifies fuel delivery on modern ECU systems utilizing a MAP sensor."
