On the wastegate there is a port on top and on the side Is the top vacum and the side boost. If so do I just hook up the one on the side and run it to the intake manifold. can I run the BOV hose to the same place

Leave the top line open and alone.

The side port takes boot to the underside of the diaphram. When boost pressure is achieved, it moves the diaphram upward against the spring. The wastegate valve is attached to the diaphram, to when the diaphram moves up against the spring from the boost pressure, t opens the valve. That's how wastegates work - spring pressure vs boost pressure to move a mechanical valve via a diaphram.

Now, think in reverse. Instead of boost, vacuum. The top port opens to the top of the diaphram. If you supply vacuum to the top of the diaphram, you're going to cause the diaphram to move upward against the spring, just as if there were boost applied to the underside (boost side) of it. What does that mean? your wastegate is open at idle, and you'll probably never spool.

What would happen if you blocked that port off? Well, when the diaphram flexes, it displaces air. If you plug that port, the air the diaphram would displace would have nowhere to go, and it would be difficult to control boost by pressurizing both the underside and topside of the diaphram to open the valve, now, wouldn't it?

THAT's why you need to leave that port alone.

Cool?
