half a year later, i finally fixed my car.

i just hope it lasts. well, got my car yesterday, only took them 6 hours to put my whole engine back together and get it fired up. so far, its been pretty good. i ordered my forged pistons the day my car was towed to the shop, good friend jeff who owns Autotech Motorsports in Mira Mar says its ok to be there while i wait for my piston set. talked to a nice guy name Jon at Race Engineering and said, "no problem, 8:5.1 compression, standard bore, forged, 420A, yah we have it, its considred the "Neon" (cringe) engine in our catergory, and they will fit all 420A" i said cool, they said 4-5 business days and it will be here. its wednesday, it finally came tuesday a week later. opened the box..wow, forged pistons....uhmmm, wheres the rings? no rings. called them up next day early in the morning since they are 3 hours ahead in florida, says the ring will be shipped seperately, since they are out of stock and some dealer in LA has the size for mine. he said it should be coming same time as my piston rings...wednesday..called them again for UPS tracking, they can't give it to me......thursday....called again, and no rings, no UPS tracking code..i was gettin pissed..friday, talked to Jon again, he said he will call the vendor, and when he called me back...WOAH..he said the vendor didnt receive the fax and it wasnt shipped out...i was pisse ...but he said he got the vendor to ship it out, overnight..but since its friday....waited till monday afternoon...its tuesday again, and i gave it to the shop...that night, they tell me the second piston rings did not match, they should be 1.400 wide and i got 4 of 1.400 top rings...4 of 1.588 second rings...it was too wide, both top and second rings fittings are both the same and identical, pistons wont go down...wednesday, called up Race Engineer and they talked to my shop, maybe my shop was dumb and didnt know how to do it, but i didnt hear anything that night..so i came to the shop and checked it out...yup, too wide, Jeff even went out of his way to go to a piston shop, and they verified it was too wide!!!...arrrgghh...thursday i called again, asked them to resend me the correct piston rings, and talked to jon again, said he will handle it...i had to call him twice that day..and the second time i called him he said he took care of it and i have to send my piston rings back and they will give me new ones...im like ok??..my car has been in the shop over 2 weeks..waiting for this stupid rings..he said he cant send it thursday, but on friday...(they must love sending overnight shipments on a friday when ups and fed ex dont deliver on saturdays or sundays) got the shipment of rings on monday..and i busted out laughing...same vendor from LA sent me the same piston rings..but hey, i only needed that 4 top rings..and they gave it to me, and no return shipping label????....oh well, just wanted to share with you the hell i have to go thru, and i know some of you guys went thru it also, but im excited that after 7 months i got my eclipse running again, but i need to break in my car and thats what Jeff suggested for me b4 i put my car in the DYNO for Apexi' SAFC tune up and adding my FPR..question, which one should i get...CARTECH of Vortech..ive been driving my car all day, even with a lower compression, i cant tell the difference, it feels like its still stock. Also, my engine is loud now, sounds like a V8 Mustang, is that normal? I'll let you guys know the news and posts some pics. also if you are around the san diego area, or anywhere near it, and you cant find an honest, reliable, technical, and u can only find shops who have peons-workers in the back (u know, bunch of guys with no mechanical degree or bacground whos probably still in highschool with fixed up cars hanging around the shop since they know someone who works there acting they know how to install turbo kits but only seen their friends install it or read it off the magazine type of guys)Well, if u want honest work, just go to Jeff's shop, they specialize in RX-7 but his mechanics have years of experience in any type of cars and they also do other stuff as in paintjobs, any weldings, turbos, suspension, you name it...Autotech Motorsports or http://www.autotechmotorsports.com ask for Jeff.

Get the vortech. Its about $250. If you dont have the money and want to go the cheap route i have a Cartech for sale. I need to find a place that can test it out. I just cracked a piston ring land from detonation, im not sure if it had to do with the cartech or not. But in all honesty get the vortech sfmu!
