#44835, "Repositioning my EGT probe"

I want to put my EGT probe in my exhaust manifold for more accurate readings instead of keeping it in the downpipe. What I was wondering is will I need to disassemble my entire setup to get the hole drilled in the manifold? Or will they be able to clean out the shavings while keeping the manifold and turbo bolted up? Or will the little shavings even be a problem if they were passed along with the exhaust?

With the engine running, drill the hole, but make sure you wear protective glasses. Any major shaving will get blown outta the hole and the minute shavings won't pose a problem.

Awesome, and this will work? The shavings won't get recycled through the compressors and thrown back into the intake? Has anybody done this before?

i drilled mine with the car off then with a magnet got all the major pieces out, ,then just turned th car on and blew the rest out of the exhaust when I turned the car on. You should have no problem.

I drilled the manifold while the car was running. works fine, start with a small bit and work up to the size you need. the exhuast gas will puch all the shavings back out.
