see if you guys could figure this out. everytime i've been boosting, when i look at my gauge my boost don't stay steady at that specific boost level i want. when i press the gas and the boost kicks in, right after 4krpm my readings are going higher and higher, but it doesn't feel like i'm boosting that high. i don't think it's my gauge 'cause it's pretty new(autometer 30psi). so i'm thinking it could be either my boost comtroller or my wastegate...but what are other possiblities for this happening? i tried turning down the boost controller and the same thing happens. oh and i have the hallman manual boost controller.

I get the same thing, actually i think thats why i blew my motor, cause i usually will run 8-9 psi, then it started spiking to about 10-11 psi, above 4500 rpms, the boost seemed to rise as the rpms increased over that. I also use the Hallman MBC. I was fine for some time, esp after i used the brake booster vac line and teed off of that to the BC inlet, instead of using the compressor's outlet, so i'm not positive what is causing it. Didnt really have time to mess with it since the motor went kaput. Check for boost leaks, and be sure there are no vac lines that are loose or broken, ect.. Try using a boost source at the intake mani to the BC's inlet, to see if that helps. It should make up for any boost pressure loss from small boost leaks, to help keep boost more constant..I may have had a boost leak, so i dont know. Could be the Hallman, i've always suspected that.

so you have your MBC connected from the wastegate to the intake manifold? did you plug a fitting to the compressor? i guess i'll try that out, but as for my vacuum lines, they're all tight, i use 3/4" fuel hoses and clamped real tight, so i know it's not that. i'm also afraid of the same thing, i don't want to overboost. i hate that i have to let off the gas everytime it looks like it's going past 15psi.

yeah i have the compressor outlet capped off. I never really liked the Hallman MBC, but others don't have any issues with it I may get a Joe P MBC, heard nothing but good things about it.

if your getting boost creap like that look at the wastegate... that would be my number 1 guess..... cause the wastegate's job is to get rid of unwanted gas and to prevent boost spikes..... yes a boost controller will overcome the waste gate and help build more boost but i would check at the wastegate first....

well i finally was able to reconfigure my boost controller and tee'd it close to the intake manifold to the blow off valve line, and it worked. not only am i getting steady boost, i spool a little better and sooner than before. man all this time i wished i knew this hook up. thanks guys!
