Could I buy piece by piece of a turbo system like buy the Mistu Super 16G turbo alone now about 3 months later get the intercoler and within 2 years install it all and have it work just like new or would I need to some how keep up with the componets by doing such things as oiling them until I am ready to install them? Thanks.

why not save up for it and buy it all it two years. but as long as you keep it in good condition it will be fine.

And how would I go about keeping it in good condition? Its hard for me to save money so id be better off buying piece by piece. Couldn't I just store it all in my basement?

Think of it this way 9D9... how far have turbo kits for our cars come along in the past year(s), 2 years from now the turbo kits we're using today will be a thing of the past, outdated. Wait until then, see how far things have come, and thank yourself for waiting and buying the latest stuff instead of the oldest stuff. This is just my opinion though, everyone has different situations and means, do what you can.

Like they said, save your money until you can afford it, AND a rebuild Besides, if you put your money in a bond, CD, or at least a savings account you'll get "free" tools and gauges n stuff.
If you already have metal parts being stored in your basement, you can preserve them with WD-40. That's what it was designed for.

I wouldn't completely agree with all of that. Turbo's are the same turbo's today as they were 5 years ago. The cost has actually risin' at about the same rate as inflation. The value of the turbo hasn't depreciated at all. I am on my 3rd aftermarket turbo'd car in 9 years, and the technology and prices are about the same.
