No, you are required to have a license to carry a combustable substance. But then again neither is speeding, and everyone does that too. If you are worried about it, if you ever get pulled over just say you didn't know and offer to empty it. I have two in my trunk and (knock on wood) haven't had any probs....yet.

I get pulled over all the time with it, never been ask to epmty or even given a ticket for it. I dont believe its illegal to have or carry because NOS has emmision exempt systems for Mustangs and it is too readily available and requires nothing to obtain. Bottles have to be recertified every 5 yrs but as far as I know isn't illegal. Nitrous isn't a combustable substance until mixed with an ignitable substance. Other than the emmission exempt kits it is illegal to USE on public highways. Until I'm told differently or ticketed for it I'm gonna cont to assume its only illegal to use.

Here in Cali. It is legal to have it in your trunk if it is NOT connected. If it is connected... well I'm not sure, but I know it's a FAT ticket. ( well thats what I've heard )
