Ok, I know you emailed me this stuff in the past, but I need it again. Is 5123 the correct part number for the Nitrous system for a 95? Besides what comes with the kit, what should I order with it(bottle heater?). And, how much do purge systems cost? I know I don't need it, but it would be cool to scare off some pesky hondas! Thanks a bunch Stan, you're the nitrous MAN!(soon to be turbo though right:-))

I know I'm not Stan but...

5123 is the one for the 95's.

5208 for 96+

Bottle heater and a gauge.
Purge kit's run around $90-$100 for NOS brand depending on where you get it.

LAST EDITED ON 17-Mar-01 AT 02:32 PM (PST)

Looking on Wyatts general emails looks like your going turbo too. If you plan on going turbo you'll need to run the 5208 (or any wet kit really). Never try and run a dry kit with a turbo kit. Your already manipulating the vacuum signal with a turbo kit and GOD only knows what affect the altered vacuum signal from the dry kit combined with the altered signal from the turbo regulator will do. But yes 5122, 5123 or 5124 are all the same kit (dont ask me why 5122 is suppose to be for 50hp, 5123 60hp and 5124 70hp but the jets for any are included. I have a 5122 jetted for 70hp with the included jets. Hell even the mustang dry kit will vary little other than jets it comes with). Naturally I'll have to convert mine to wet before I can spray with the turbo (and believe me I have evry intention on doing so). A bottle heater is the only must have and mine was $$. The old NOS model was about $120. The new model list for about $175. A bottle heater can be the difference between "where's the power" and "oh my God its fast".

why is warm NO2, any differant than cold nitrous? wouldn't colder generally burn better? i'm just asking because there's a big hype on "COLD" air intakes, and i know my engine runs best when it's chilly outside.

When gas is heated it expands. when it is cooled it compresses. In order for nitrous to work properly it must be maintained at 900psi of presssure. That is done by heating the bottle to appox. 85 deg. While nitrous is released from the bottle it is iceburn call the parametics cold whether you heat the bottle or not. But if you want it to perform properly you mucst maintain the pressure. Nitrous may be in liqiud form when cool in the bottle but I really dont remember if it is or isn't (it has relavence too I just dont recall what the hell it is).

It's kind of like on a hairspray aresol can...it says "don't expose to heat over 120*F." Simply because the hotter the contents of the can get, the more pressure that is exerted, and hairspray cans aren't designed for the pressure that would result over 120*F. NOS bottles are designed for very high pressure, so the warmer the bottle the better, and in fact the warmer the bottle, the colder the NOS leaving the bottle will be. This is because when a gas is compressed heat results, this is the reason we use intercoolers on turbos. When compressing this air, kinetic energy is tranformed into heat energy, and thus needs to be cooled. Likewise, when a gas is decompressed from a compression state, the heat energy is transformed into kinetic energy. This results in VERY cold NOS. Simply put, the more heat in the closed bottle, the more energy thats going to realease when open.

Well, I tried to simplify the point, but seem to have made it more complex, but damn I love physics. emoji

In other words, don't heat it too much or it will explode emoji J/K
Anyway it is not a good idea do go much over 900(although some kits say 1100 but I like to be safe).
Now nitrous isn't actually flamable, in cases of extreme heat the bottle should blow off all the nitrous out the blow down tube and out of the car.
Ohh forgot to add, you have to get a blow down tube separate, because the kit doesn't come with it. (at least not at the time we bought ours)
