its not a bomb at all...nitrous is NON flammable until it gets mixed with fuel and such in the engine. Stan has been rear ended before, no trouble with his.

I don't think he means a bomb in the sense of fire, but in the raw power that compressed air has when let loose. (we all saw the picture of that Maxima after its 10lb bottle went kabloowey and took the garage with it)

Yeah I saw that pic too. It made a huge explosion and the car was barely a car anymore. It looked like a burnt piece of scrammbled up metal.

That explosion was caused by the idiot hard-wireing his bottle heater so that it NEVER turned off, even when the car was shut off. my dad has talked to his father before. and the dude blamed it on nitrous...same ole same ole.

You dont wqrry about volatile fuel vapors reaming from your gas tank, and poorly installed regulators from an overworked shop tech on your turbos but you worry about a non flammable sustance perched in your hatch. I hope you guys never need any major dental work. Whoa be unto the men who have to deliver flammable and non-flammable cannisters. Sh*t lets already pick a grave site for the fuel delivery driver, but then again my 10lbs of 20+ inch bottle is such a danger. Bottles have safety caps that releives presssure. If your that concerned about compressed nitrous exploding in the cockpit just leave the dang bottle opened until one bright moring a solinoid begins to leak so that the explosion can occur safely in the engine bay when the car is started. Who needs immediate tire turning, V8 burning lag free torque anyway. Its terrible! (and I'm about $150 away from reconfiguring my nitrous to wet).

With all that Laughing gas everywhere, the explosion will be the last thing on your mind......
Oh and if you were to get rear-ended hard enough to squish the bottle against someting hard to trap it and "pop" it, the first thing that comes to mind that is hard enough not to "give" would have to be the Dashboard... Now correct me if I'm wrong, but crushing a car all the way to its dashboard usually means bye bye driver's seat (and driver!)...
As for all you NOSers, have you considered lining the back of backseats with a sheet of aluminunm (just placed behind the mdf wood)? Shouldn't add too much weight, and might give some peace of mind....

If I ever get rear-ended I hope that the nozzles get knocked off both of my bottles. That way maybe they will turn into NOS torpedo's and shoot right thru the idiot who just hit me.
