#43023, "Am I trying to kid myself (with a nitrous performance upgrade)??"

Will nitrous be worth what I pay... I mean performance wise.... will I be able to atleast hang with people.... I mean I dont really have the money for a turbo upgrade, and the small nickle and dime upgrades , lets face it arent gonna make me that fast. So juice seems like the best answer. I mean short of building up the motor (through major internal work) adding a turbo to my NA seems like the best answer.. or should I scrap the 97 RS for a 1g or 2g turbo.... which is nearly impossible to find here in Iowa... I have the basicc mods Iceman CAI and an aftermarket straight through muffler, but will a header, race cat, UDP, lightwieght flywheel (possibly), Nitrous and maybe even a chip be worth it, or am I missing something. I mean I want to do all this but I dont want to just throw my money in a pile on the floor and burn it if Ill get my ass handed to me time after time......

Okay heres another one then. saying I find a 2g turbo thats got rear end damage but the motors fine, is swapping the motor an idea? or using that turbo and all the pieces on my RS an option. Ill probably have alittle more work than that but is it possible...???

if you mean to sawp into a 4g motor then its not worth it

4G63 turbo engine (stock) $1500
2. transmission (stock GS-T FWD) $500
3. wiring harness for engine $300
4. 4G63 ECU (stock) $300
5. shift linkage $200
6. custom engine mounts $200
7. chassis cross member $100
8. complete exhaust $200
9. intercooler, turbo, related parts $500
10. boost gauge/fuel filter, etc $300
11. Installation $1500

with this much you can buy a stage 5 turbo

Well I heard on DSMTALK.COM with an I/H/E and afx pulley (basically the decent mods for an NT) w/ a 75 shot of Nitrous you will be in the low 14 in the 1/4 mile. Thats not bad. You wont have to worry about hondas anymore.

Does anyone know what the max shot of NITROUS i can use on my GS W/ AN ***** AUTO TANNY ***** is. I was thinking 50 shot is definitly safe, but can i use a 75 shot safely?

MODS:

HRC 16g turbo kit, Spearco custom FMIC, Custom IC piping, VT rebuilt engine: Custom 8.8:1 compression CP pistons, Eagle connecting rods, Melling oil pump, Clevite bearings, 370cc injectors, Vortech S-FMU, Apexi N-1 catback exhaust, AFX UDP, Autometer boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, EGT gauge, Corbin's digital A/F gauge, Tokico Blue shocks, Tein springs (1.5" drop), 18" Konig Verdicts rims, VIS stock-style Carbon fiber hood

You wont be much if any faster with a turbo unless you run over 8psi and you'll be slower with a stage 1 than with nitrous but the turbo is there all the time. If all you want to do is hang and dont want power all the time its just right (but who doesn't want power all the time).
