I'm a college student (always broke):( I would like to add more power to my RS baby, now Nos is cheaper than turbo but is it worth it, should I just save up and go Turbo?

Yes it will slowly eat up your engine, alot slower than Turbo. If you decide to go with nitrous, you have to decide, do you want that power all the time, or just for racing. Nitrous is not harder on the engine than turbo. If you had Turbo, you would probably be boosting alot more often than you would be spraying if you had a NOS kit. Since you will be on stock internals, no higher than 75shots off a dry or wet kit, DP Fogger kit you could probably get away with more. It is really up to you.

How would NOS eat up your engine? I mean you could blow it with improper fuel delivery but how would it wear? On the piston rings, gaskets and seals?

I have a turbo on my avenger and personally I love it. If you want to run a turbo and want to make the car dependable and a daily driver, you have to put alot more cash into it than just the turbo kit. You figure you have to get an EGT, A/F meter, Guage pod if you dont have one. Plus if you really want to run high boost you'll have to rebuilt the bottom end at least. That'll run anywhere from 1000-2000 depending if you do it yourself. The HRC kit is a great kit but if you want a dependable car under decent amounts of boost you're going to pay for it.

With NOS all you would need is an EGT and A/F so you could monitor how the car is acting. Good thing about that is it's cheaper and when you're not spraying the car is pretty much stock and running normal. You just have to get some safeguards to make sure the bottle doesnt get too pressurized and turn you car into a tin can..

NOS isn't cheaper really... u gotta keep on filling up the bottle if u spray a lot. Both consider maintenance. make sure u got extra cash either way.

NOS is gonna be cheaper, unless you spray all the time and have to refill weakly. Yes, you will always have the cost of refilling the bottle, but considering maintance cost for Turbo, its still the cheaper of the two. If cost if a big issue, a standard NOS kit is probably what you should look into.

i know a guy that before his civic was boosted he had 2 n2o tanks which he refilled weekly for 4 months straight?!? you do the math...33$ per bottle per week...damn...either way, i didn't go thru that much, but when i did use it, it was gone. at the 75 shot setting u'll get about 10 good runs in in the 1/4 mi. and that's it. after that u'll just be shooting compressed air and you wont' get u're high...that and i was constantly empty b/c i didn't have another 33$ to fork out for a refil, it's like a drug, at least w/ a turbo you know exactly how much it's going to be upfront. i'm not knocking nitro thou, i loved it...the power at a flip of a switch, just wasn't for me anymore...

I chose nitrous over turbo due to the fact that I only want power when it is called for vs having it all the time with turbo plus all the responsibility that comes with it. Plus getting the turbo to pass the visual in cali would be a B***h.
