I'm confused about running nitrous. You guys say not to squeeze until 3K rpm, in what gear? Or do you squeeze it off as soon as you the 3K mark no matter what gear your in? Also, someone said to turn overdrive off if you're an auto. If I do this, my car hits 4K rpm when I'm only at 70 mph and won't shift again. (3K rpm at 80 with it off) Should I just leave O/D on, punch it to the floor, and hit the gas at 3K rpm, and then just let it shift? I'm really confused on the subject, I'm not trying to sound like a dumbass, it's just the whole "when to shoot" thing has blown my mind because I've heard so many theories.

just kidding, i cant speak for sure abouts autos(i have a 5 speed) but i assume with any tranny the same holds true. dont activate the n2o untill you get to 3000 rpms, in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears only. thats it, n2o aint meant for long runs, its just for the quick stuff.

aye..... just hit the dam button once you hit 3000 in first and let of the GAS PEDAL when you dont need to be fast anymore... dunno about overdrive stuff though 5speed here. What shot are you going with?

I'm only going to be running a 50 shot at first. Then once I get the internals in, I'll step it up a bit. I was told that when you let off the gas, that's bad cause your still dumping N2O in your engine, but there's no gas there to equal it out. Any truth to this?

My nitrous system is micro switched. The throttle linkage activates the system. (Nitrous works wet system)When I drag race I arm my system (switched in car) and foot brake the car up to 2500 rpm's. You better have good brakes or they won't hold you there for long at higher rpm's. As the lights drop I floor it. The system does the rest. At the big end of the track I run through the traps then shut down the system. All the while keeping my foot to the floor. This will burn any excess fuel out of the intake and prevent back fire. Then it's time to get on the brakes for the turn around road.Who ever told you that when you let off the gas the system still runs nitrous is full of it. The solenoids are either off or on. No power will close the solenoid.

Sure, if you're using a throttle switch. If you're using a momentary button on the steering wheel or something then make sure you let go of that button before you let off the accelerator. Just remember, you must be at WOT when spraying!

Also, if you're auto... you can spray in first gear and any other gear. Just be sure your above 2500-3000 RPMS. Most people say 3000 RPMS, but I powerbrake to 2500 RPMS then floor it when the light turns green. I also recommend leaving the OD off until you redline in 3rd gear, then hit OD. This will keep the AT from shifting into 4th (a really shitty gear for us) a little early and you'll stay fast.
