Just had some general questions....i'm considering porting the intake mani and going dp...what all will i need to do this besides the obvious and up to what shot....i know the lines, nozzles and mani....i'm still a novice at nos but i'm just jonesing for better track times....who is doiing this currently....what runners did you tap into and what shots are you running? what kind of times can i expect w/ this setup...by the way what makes dp so much better? Thanks for your help guys.....

400whp or bust.

...what all will i need to do
>this besides the obvious

An auxillary inline fuel pump is recommended to maintain steady fuel pressure when sqeezing. NOS sells its own but any $80 in line will do. They can be wired to only run when sqeezing. Colder plugs (NGK 7 range or Denso Ir IK22). I wouldn't recommend leaving them in when not sqeezing, they will foul. Upgrade ignition would help but not neccessarily needed. Practice bending hard lines with the bender (sold by NOS) if you plan on doing this yourself.

....who is doiing this
>currently....

not me but its been done. The one guy who I know had it is no longer frequenting the board (Blkout) although I know others have done it.

what runners did you tap into and what shots
>are you running?

all of them(one nozzle in each port/intake manifold runner=direct port). Probably best to tap into the backside of the manifold (so that the hardlines, solinoids are by the firewall as opposed to in between the manifold and cyl head where the fuel rail is. Not much room there). Tap the lower manifold (we have a two peice intake manifold if you arent aware). a mistake will net you buying a new manifold so careful with the drilling/tapping. The minimum shot according to NOS is 80hp shot. the next jump up is 100hp. Neither really recommended for a daily driver although I'd do 80hp anyway if I were doing DP

>what kind of times can i expect w/ this
>setup...

13s easily if you can launch it

>by the way what makes dp so much better?

Each cyl has a seperate nozzle close to the cyl head intake ports= equal distibution, no fuel puddling issues, higher shot capabilities without the top two issues. basically accuracy.

All that said you probably dont need a direct port system. Hardly nobody and I mean nobody starts out with a direct port. Get a basic wet or dry system, learn it well, then move to DP if you still feel the need (more than likely you will bypass DP and go straight to turbo even if you think you cant afford it. Non of us could but funny how wanting something bad enough brings in the $$$ someway, somehow).

I see you have nitrous from your other post so you probably no a little something and DP isn't too far fetched. First you need to figure out why you are only running a 15.9. We have guys with intake, exhaust, pulley and AFC running better. Surely 50 additonal hp should net you at worst low 15s with a 5sp. Even auto's with a 50hp shot run a little better than 15.9. Whats your trap speed and what do you run NA?

DP is bad ass tht was until I destroyed my everything when I opted for a 300 DP shot then my built motor took a dump I you should see my intake manifold you'd shit, just wait for my webpage it will have videos and pics. The bigger size DP shots are wicked add a progresive controler and watch out. I was spraying on 12:5 cp though and my timing was a little off so timing id say is 1 of the most important factors when spraying a shot that big.

NOS also has a new direct port kit out, in which theres no drilling. I saw it at the SEMA show, and there in my 2002 NOS catalog. basicly you just pop out your fuel injectors, put in the "NOSzle" (cute name) and then out your fuel injector back in. It also uses bendable hard plastic tubing instead of bending lines. Not quite as trick, but a hell of a lot easier!! Just ask anyone who's ever spent the weekend (or week for that matter) installing there Direct port kit. Anyways the kit is around $300 more than a standard direct port kit....
