I've got a '98 Avenger, and I'm in the process of figuring out what to do to give my car a little nut. I've been leaning toward a Hahn kit, but it seems that I'm going to need a lot of money to get it running "safely" at higher boost levels (kit + rebuild + gauges + electronics + whatever else). I'm looking at nitrous now, in hopes that it will be less expensive (and at least as quick).
Can anyone give me a rough list of what equipment I will need to get going, and how much that will cost me? I'm apt to do everything at once, so please list "down the road" accessories as well.

Alright here's the basic setup os stuff you'll need to safely run a 35-75 shot:
Wet Nitrous System - $500 to $1400 Bottle Heater and Purge Valve - $200 to $400 A/F Meter - $60 for Corbin's digital one EGT gauge and probe - $150 to $200 Fuel Pressure gauge - $45 to $150
The system is the only thing that you truly need to run the setup, all the other stuff is just add-ons that assist in better performance and allowing you to know what's going on when you're squeezing. Along with all that nitrous related equipment, it's a good idea to have a intake (CAI or short ram), cat-back exhaust, headers, and new plugs and wires. Make sure your fuel and ignition systems are in PERFECT working order, and you might want to do a compression test to ensure your internals are good.
As for other accesories down the road, if you aren't planning on running N2O long then that's all you can possibly need. If you decide to stick with N2O then you might want to consider a bottom end rebuild, upgraded fuel system, and a new ignition so you can run those powerful 100 shot blasts!!

There is no sure fire way to check your ignition system. Start by pulling your plugs and looking at them, if they're black you're running rich so you'll probaly wanna replace them. When you change your plugs, it's a good idea to go ahead and change out your wires. As for your fuel system upgrades, start with a Walbro 255lph in tank fuel pump and maybe some 315cc injectors, along with a S-AFC for fine tuning your engine. Ignition upgrades would be a MSD box or a Accel unit that would allow you to retard your timing
