#41091, "Tons of questions for the NOS geniuses...."

I have an 1998 RS with 50,500 miles... I want a little boost if I need it everytime some little shit needs to show off to his girlfriend... Maybe a 50-75 shot. I'm COMPLETLEY stock and I'm and AUTO. How much is TOTALLY SAFE? Also, I've heard that NOS ads like MAJOR miles to your car...is this true? I want to know if I should do this or not?!? I'm on the edge and I'm tipping towards the no NOS side but I want to hear some good stuff about the spray befor I cross this off of my list. Tell me the truth, tell me the worse case... I just need some friggin help here guys. I'm NOS illiterate...

Thanks

-Chip

I've been spraying for two years now. The only probelms I've had is a crack ring land on #3 piston. This was due to the oil holes being plugged in the piston. I usally run a 75 shot. Now i'm running a 100 shot. So your all stock? No intake or exhaust? you should be able to run a 50 shot though. Start with a 25 shot and see how your car reacts. Make sure you get an A/F guage or an EGT gauge first though! That way you can moniter the engine under the squeeze.I'd at least go with an intake and exhaust first. I run Aem intake, Brosal header, custom exhaust, under drive pulley, Msd coil and 8.5mm wires, NGk iridium plugs, 55mm throttle body, ported and polished intake, transgo shift improver kit, final gear mod, and a tranny cooler. If you need anymore help e-mail me at no2avenger@yahoo.com

The cracked ring land was due to the oil holes in the piston being plugged.

sorry, i had to bring this back to life. you say your running(or were when this was wrote) a 100 shot and from what i get from this post on stock internals??? how did that work out? i thought we could only run 75 shot max on our cars internals? if you can runn higher i think ill be ordering some new jets from zex and start working the shot up some more after i finish installing my egt in my new header. thanks

The cracked ring land was caused by the ammount of NOs being used... not from blocked oil holes on the piston... what a dumbass.

I just had to add that... didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea!

I would say you can safelly run a 50 shot so long as it's setup correctly...
Any more and you are pushing it on stock internals.
