To put it simply....we have a MAP sensor that's reads a voltage. When boosting this voltage is much higher than normal, since the MAP sensor ins't familiar with these high voltages, the car will fuel cut....unless you have a missing link which will ensure that the MAP sensor doesn't read any positive manifold pressure, hence no freaky voltage...hence no fuel cut...ans a smooth transition between vacuum and boost.

To be even more detailed, the MAP sensor is designed to read from 0 volts at vaccuum to 4.7 volts at atmospheric pressure in the intake manifold. Well when your turboed you are going to have positive pressure in the manifold which is beyond what the sensor was made for and it freaks out and the ECU goes to LIMP MODE with a 4000 rpm red line. All the missing link is, is a check valve in a nice milled package that bolts up easily between the manifold and the MAP sensor and blocks off the air flow when it goes past atmospheric pressure.
